Akai MPCX Eurorack Cable Snake

Curious to how many have played with the CV jacks? I love the factory access, but I thought I could do a little better.

One thing I wanted to add pretty quickly on was a panel just for the CV/Gate outputs right in my main rack and ditch the longer patch cables. So here is what I came up with. I am hoping for a sort of standard too, so hackers please listen in.
Eight outputs and GND/0V mean a nine pin din is perfect for this cable snake. Simply use a standard 9 Pin DIN serial cable and if you decide to build one for yourself, just use the standard 9 pin numbering. Output pin 1-8 is pin one through eight on the serial connector and pin 9 is Gnd/0V. This streamlines it into my setup nicely. Without costing a bundle too.
The outside case mod is pretty easy to do and you don't even have to detach all of the internal MPCX's cables making it one of the quickest mods I have completed to a piece of hardware.

Nice man. Certainly have some skills and there are a few here into mods and stuff. Not many modular users on this forum, unfortunately. Certainly not many on the level of your system. I tried to mess with modular but I found it wasn’t for me, but I have mad respect for those who can really rock it.

I was just trying to get people talking about processing drums on 4 channels through a filter bank, but that might fall Slightly into your envelope follower thought.

The Mpc x is actually perfect for me to process my drums through modular, but I wanted to do the same thing without modular. Using rack mount or filter boxes.

If had a bunch of money and patience for modular I’d be sequencing EVERYTHING effect wise. Having an ASDR per step is king in terms of animation and customization.

I enjoy Euro Racks and Frac systems, however I needed instant recall of all my audio settings. I have nothing but respect for those who can create and maintain that kind of system. It's not for the faint at hard.

Charles one of the main points of the Mpc x is total recall in terms of cv control.

Now with the modules thenselves that’s up to you. But as you can see with a big enough system things can just stay the same for Some time.

Now controlling digital pedals and such will give you total recall of every parameter.

Random off topic facts: the asr 10 plays real nice with modular. The expression pedal in can be routed to any parameter. The asr 10 is on a level of its own.

The Rossum electro assimil8tor might be the most versatile sampler ever made. Check it out. You can even dial in settings of old E-mu samplers. I’m sure you can get the closest to a sp 1200 with it and honestly I want to sell mine before he changes the game making a desktop unit with the same specs. Rumor is it’s coming soon!

This was one of the reasons I used 2 MPC with the 8 cards installed, then assign a pulse wav file to a pad, and I can control euro rack pieces. That's one reason, I wanted 16 out on one MPC. Nevertheless, when I changed work flows, I had to pull the MPC's from the chain.

Question about the MPC X. Is it possible to use the CV outs and the 8 outs with pulse wav assigned? Essentially this would give 16 cv outs from one machine.

Recently, I just ordered another MPC 4000, just for the purpose of connecting and leaving it patched to modular system. That is my first time seeing the Rossum electro assimil8tor, that would be nice as standalone desktop piece. Thanks for the heads up, will keep an eye out.

the CV outs on the MPC X is what got me wanting one in the first place
for the moment i settle with a MPC4000 and MUC810 (midi-CV convertor, 16ch)
but i also got my eye on an expert sleeper adat in/out combo to pair with the MPC(4000)
those expert sleepers modules are able to out/in CV but is the MPC able to record that (through its adat connection) ?
-then i could sample CV instead of turning the knobs on the MPC X

what gets me off the MPC X is the fact that it only outputs 0-5V range and my eurorack case is balanced on -5 -> +5 V

i got all those modules from Rossum Electro and they are all -5 - +5 V (got a PERCUSSA SSP too)

-the assimil8tor gets down to drop sample behavior of the SP1200, pair it with some doepfer A105 filter and you get a (instant!, it is insane) re-creation of the beloved boombap sound

Do you experience any latency using the MIDI TO CV converter. (MUC810 - midi-CV converter, 16ch)
