THAT'S WHY YOU DON'T PUT 100% TRUST IN AKAI!

Like slamming the live down or beating it with a hammer. His live should not be crashing, when performing simple functions like twisting knob, triggering pads, pressing buttons.

My God, you purchase products to use and enjoy it. NOT to trouble shoot it!! This problem is wide spread among all the brands releasing gear under inMusic. Not just Akai with the latest MPCs. The other brands under inMusic Brand are having failure problems and the same lucky people who's luck up are stating it's user error, until they get bit by the failure bug. Then the table turns and they start crying, why my unit is not working.

I agree 100%. Music production/remixing is currently a hobby for me. If my main source of income was music production then I would NOT use inMusic Brand products. The reliability & stability is just not there.

Clients don't want to hear that you couldn't finish their project due to faulty hardware or half backed, poorly implemented software. The client would tell you to use something else or they would take their project(work) elsewhere to be completed.

If Akai's desire is to cater to professionals in the music industry then their hardware/software needs to be at a professional level.

"You would think the machine is falling apart. Most the issues are from people who want other features. It's not that the device is not usable. It's like they are addicted to getting updates. If the machine works, just fix the bugs, not add new features that will cause more bugs. Paraphrasing MPC TUTOR. :smoker:"

LOL when a new update comes people need not jump on it so quickly.

I don’t agree with some of these comments regarding user error. I had a unit go and crash on me and not function after just turning it on and setting a bpm, and walking to the kitchen for some water to find it had crashed.. some units may just be faulty due to hardware malfunctioning..

It's not always user error. If the machine was a lemon, this forum would be smashed with rants. However, did you end up returning the malfunctioning unit?

Obviously not 100 percent user error, but for me only times I had a crash was user error on my part. I’m talking way too much going on audio tracks, clip launching, auto save on, midi tracks, etc. I’m not on the newest os but haven’t had a crash in over a year now. I use it to sequence it and other machines, and record audio tracks/ edit samples.

I stand 100 % percent with what illgreen said. I stick to my work flow and it goes smooth. Only times I crashed is when I’m essentially testing it. I don’t use clip mode but sometimes I check it out, sometimes I load a bunch of random programs, etc. hell I crash a pretty powerful computer doing too much all at once...

Lets just say 60% is due to user amd 40% Akai. More people on Youtube are not having problems than people having problems. And dam if didn't watch my share of vids. You fall in the 40% Respectively! :-)

Yes, I shipped it to AKAI and they replaced it with a brand new one.

Sounds like a win. How is your current experience with the new machine?

Honestly it's great man. I've never had any of the problems I've seen from others outside of that one. I treat this box as a sample editor, with love for the famous sequencer. Akai could never release another update for these machines and I'd honestly be fine.. most of the features in here was never available in the early mpc's I've owned, and the only mpc I've ever felt spoiled by was the 4000, and I never used half of the features in that.. Sometimes I feel like so many options spoils us for always wanting more. I'm hella content.

The machines pretty much does everything, but make the music for people, self publish the music, and steal royalties payments. My main issue with the devices, is that they did not upgrade their input and output. Give me 8 in and 16 outs with 4 midi in and 8 midi outs at least.

The MPC 60 had 2 ins and 8 out audio, with 2 midi ins and 4 midi outs. That was in 1988.
