2.3 better feel like 3.0!

Been too long since anything substantial has been added or addressed. No workflow enhancements or new features.

2.1 feels like ages ago.

Midi learn was pretty substantial, too bad global learn was left out of the standalone.

Hopefully we should hear something by the end of the month. The akai fire was last week, mpk mini play was yesterday, so maybe 2.3 is soon.

No disc streaming though so what else could warrant an ad campaign? Cross fade loop?

I was at synthfest last Saturday (Sheffield) and asked the AKAI team about 2.3. Very evasive and I got the feeling it was a way off.

Was a suggestion that the box cannot handle much more when I asked about MPE as my seaboard just messes the box up.

I was somewhat disappointed to say the least.

I wouldn’t bank on 2.3 ever arriving.

Did it ship with 1.0?

I ask because I bought I 3 months ago and got it with 2.1

Shipped with 2.0 but there were several updates in between that and 2.1

Aint no way the OS has maxed out the hardware just yet. Akai needs to level up their code optimization chops. Maybe hire some oldschool cats, or get JJ to teach em low level programming

But I admit that sounds worrisome. I hope Akai hasn't decided to cut down on standalone dev budget any further. Dan leaving town @GS for a few months does sound worrisome as well, hoping these things aren't connected somehow..

My best guess is there won't be any big changes coming anymore.
Something tells me we've already seen the biggest stuff.

Probably some nice small stuff will come but as for automation lanes on standalone etc…
They'd probably be done already if they could do it.
Same goes for plugin delay compensation. That might probably be doable in 3.0 if they *really* built it from the ground-up that time.

Anyways, just a hunch; can't explain it, but this is how I feel.
Live and X are probably close to being as good as they can get.
Would love to be surprised, of course.

Coming from you Fanu, that sounds ominous to me. Lets hope at least some of the features Akai hinted at will still get added before they pull the plug. I guess its time to start saving money for live 2

EDIT: This got me thinking about the hardware inside live/X? Wasn't that smartphone-on-a-chip thingy discontinued already? What if Akai ran out of NOS parts and now need to release a new version of the hardware in order to justify the software R&D budget going forward?

Dan didn't say he was going to be gone for a few months.. He said he was going to be doing some traveling and wouldn't be on as much in the next month.

I'm sure our MPC's aren't done for yet! I've actually been playing around with Ableton lately. But yeah, we need 2.3 like NOW. I have a feeling it's gonna be integrated with FL Studio which is why it's taking so long plus the fire come out recently.

In what way exactly? After your assertation I went to look at some ableton sampler videos, and I really can't see the advantages. But I am not Ableton user, thus my question.
I feel like the MPC sample editor is pretty powerful.

This is how I feel as well. In this Numark age, the 1000 and 5000 were both abandoned at 2.0 (2.1) for newer models. In MPC history, only the 3000 got to 3.x.

If their pattern stays, we're not far from Akai moving onto something else, and the Live and X left as they are. I actually expect that scenario more than I expect them to get anywhere near 3.x. These folks have a pattern of abandoning promising platforms for the next thing. So yeah, I agree with the OP too - I hope IF a 2.3 comes, it will be really good, because based on their history, that's likely all we get.
