Is MPC Live overpriced ?

I'm not saying the product is bad or anything

I didn't even used it yet

Just thinking of buying it

but thinking of It..it's almost the price of laptop

what do you think ?

The laptop and all the other bits and pieces to make it like the live.And then it will be a lot of clicking around rather than making music.

Definitely overpriced. It’s a good machine and good first attempt at coming back to the standalone market.

Can you make heat on it, yes. But they spent the whole pre release cycle telling you everything you can do in software you can do in the hardware. The Browser is atrocious , the automation handling is bad, and basic features from other Mpcs are missing.

I like the live but if I had to do it again I would have just got a a maxed out Mac book pro or dell XPS.

I guess it depends on your use & expectations.

For me, yes. $600 > the Touch for extra I/O & limited stand alone feature set compared to Control Mode? Nah!

If not for how I came up on the Live, I wouldn't pay more than $800. But I'm VST 1st, samples a distant 2nd.

Basic features which Live is missing

I wouldn't say its over priced. The live has way more features than the 2000XL and is modernized. 2000XL was 1,199 and that's without the crappy effects that was optional and the 8 outs were optional. Plus the filter thingy was optional now you get all that and more.
I got my live for $959 brand new at this time one should be able to get it a lil cheaper.

True and an Amiga 600 cost waaaayyyyy more then the MPC Live when it was introduced in the early 90's, so in fact the Live is cheap.

Stop comparing outdated products with the Live when talking about worth. It's just plain stupid. I can find another 100 other outdated products where the Live definitely delivers more!

Fact is, compared to other products released in the same period the Live is overpriced.

Stop comparing thew ive to old MPC's to make it sound good. It's hopelessly outdated.

The MPC 2000 XL was released in 2000
The MPC Live was released in 2017

Gees, around the same price point but if you account for inflation that 2000xl would be well over two grand.

I don’t think the live is or was over priced. If you look at the next tiers down and their price points especially. Digitakt 750-800 electribe 400, the live can do a lot more than those machines. It’s questionable if it can do 2-3 times more of the machine, but that’s really subjective.

It’s only over priced if you don’t see the value in it. If you’re making money with beats and bought a live to write with, its certainly way undervalued if you’re able to support your self from it.

You won't find any machine in it's class, at the $1200 price point, that does what it does. Nevertheless, here are the current modern choices.

I think it's a lot of money, and yes there are features missing which you could get in Maschine for less, but when I had a Maschine I wasn't making music. When I tried using Logic Pro or Adobe (free versions) I wasn't making music. Since buying my MPC Live I've pretty much used it every day and I'm really enjoying it. For that, it was worth the money. As others have said, its more about what works for you.

Buy it for $1200.
Use it everyday for a year, for 3 hour 28 minutes or $3.28 a day.
That breaks down to 1 hour 9 min or $1.09 cent an hour to learn the machine for one year.
It's all mathematics


Now what can you give up, that cost you $3.28 a day?
