Flash ROM and pads question

Hi, I took my MPC apart for the first time last night and discovered that I had the Flash ROM option installed (I bought it used a year ago and only found out now.) I tried loading and saving to the ROM and it does not work. I know it's most like fried and most of you don't have the Flash ROM, but if anyone has encountered a problem like this before, were you able to remedy it somehow?

Also, the pads for the MPC are kind of loose now and they were not before. I noticed that there are holes for screws in the top left and bottom right hand corners of them, but there were no screws in them before. Anyone have a problem with this before? Thanks in advance.

Hi, have you tried formatting the flash rom?

I bought a MPC2k xl last week and im figuring out some stuff as well. Like it seems tha flash rom cannot handle more that 8 character filename, or is that just an MPC wide thing...

My flash rom is acting really weird too now. It just randomly works, sometimes showing wrong filenames, sometimes it's invisible to the mpc completely.
Also when it does save and load a sound it sometimes stutters the played sound, hmm
Anyone with some experience on this matter?

Update. My flashrom seems to be working now.
I've done the following things:
-taken the card out and put it back in.
-taken out a jumper that said MPC2000

Anyone has any idea on what this jumper does? It has 3 pins and i don't know where to put it, for now taking it off seems to work but i'd like to be sure i haven't set off a timebomb or something...
