I laugh because people are glorifying the process. I could make a beat in FL STUDIO with a bit crusher and fitler and tell you it from an MPC 60 and S3000 combo and there is no way, you could prove me wrong. It's all Psychoacoustics.

What you hear as warm, others hear dull.
What you hear as bright others hear as harsh.
What you hear as punchy, other hear as distorted.
What you hear as brittle, other hear as thin.

Sounds like projection to me.You stick with your emulations if that suits you

Not projection, because the process is fairly simple. But people tend to make it out to be more than it is. I use what works for the situation. Never, stuck in one work flow. When some tools are not available, yet I want a certain sound. I figure out other ways to achieve it. (My Personal way of working.)

What are your thoughts on the 8 pole hf vs 6 pole hf? Are there any situations where you would use one over the other?

What is your end game here?

Charles you can design a lot of sounds with effects but I think the idea was the pitching down and the aliasing of certain hardware.

None of the effects you listed will help get that sound. I’ve heard tal sampler is something that can emulate the artifacts.

Emulations are great, I have a dimension d and the Roland digital emulation on the md-500. Both are great but not the same by any means. It’s a cool digital effect but the fact is the original is somewhat transparent unless you’re really doing a/b with bypassing. The digital emulation sounds great too but it’s way more pronounced, although it has more editing options. Mix, drive, etc.

If you can get your fruity loops to emulate the sp in a believable way, you are unparalleled on this forum.

Create a keygroup of the sample and resample it while playing it at a high octave. Then pitch the sample back down or create another keygroup and play the sample at a lower octave. Works great for when you don't have a turntable or digital controller.

4 Pole Filter and add resonance for the ring. We're basically trying to emulate the SSM2044 filter chip.

Wow...

I sampled multiple records at 45 rpm using a particular bit reduction effect and pitched it down and there is a noticeable difference in the sound quality that I found enjoyable.

Rossum Electro (of SP1200 make/fame) Assimil8tor can vary sample playback interpolation to drop sample behaviour (as explained above in S900, as in ensoniq mirage) but even so to HQ 9 (!) octaves pitch down perfect
-it will sample in 48, 92 or 192khz but it will read those 26.04 samples correctly
pair it with a doepfer A105 filter (or two), the same SSM as used in the SP1200 et voila
