I'm going to ask this here, in a different way, as this looks like another example of an MPC Live + iPad working together.

Is there a way to use JUST the Live and an iPad? If so, in what capacity is the iPad contributing?

Cool addition! I'd get one if I could ever figure out how to incorporate an iPad on the go.

Lots of plugins bro, quality too. I think there is a thread here just dedicated to iPad apps.

Alesis makes a sound card with midi in and out but only outs for audio. I like it it was pretty cheap too like 70 bucks

Yes, I have using ipad3 for years and now ipad pro for years by itself and with 2kxl, 4k, triton Extreme.
I don't have a Live or X.

What I use to connect is..

Pre-ordered the new IPAD PRO with USB C. This may opens up the door for lots of audio interfaces.

@op, the ipad clip holder looks like it will break as SOON as someone pushes too hard on the screen. I see it as a fail and I would recommend against it. Find a better holder.

@Randolph, I would wait until at least 6-10 months after release to see what reviews come out and problems that arise. Now granted iPad hardware has had stellar years past. OS's have been **** at times and have always been corrected later, still, I'd wait. I waited 1 year after initial pro release years ago to get one.
I'll do the same this time around. I gave my ipad3 away.

The good thing about Apple products is that they are never on the cutting edge of tech. They tend to wait and see how something goes before they jump on it. With the Macbook having USB C there are many interfaces that have been developed.

I have some friends there, who will be testing some audio interfaces and other midi peripherals for that purpose. Also if it does not work out, I just drive over to any apple store and return it.

The Roli seaboard and iRIG PADS are supported.

Big IPad user here, iPad Pro 10.5 and love it to bits but imma have to agree with Lampdog on this, looks pretty flimsy and tacky, should find a way to get the harness underneath the live... If you ask me an IPad is probably thee best thing to pair with any MPC as it can be just about anything, DAW,sound module, midi controller, storage, mixing, sampling (YouTube or anything in your iTunes library, movies, etc)

As someone else mentioned that new one is looking just fabulous with the addition usb-C that will definitely make iOS life a lot easier... It’s also got a better/more powerful cpu chip too, I gotta get it lol... As for interfaces you can’t go wrong with the Zoom U-24,all the inputs and outputs you need as well as midi all for 99 bucks and it’s class compliant so it’s plug and play!

Yeah, it look flimsy. A great idea nonetheless, but the way thats executed, I don't like it, especially when its on the faceplate. I would've made it classier and just make those DJ type stands where the base would go under the MPC Live and the iPad hovering over and anywhere you want it. But thats me and I built a **** super stand for mine, so you know where I'm coming from ;)
