Literally that, I want to overlap some guitar so it trails off into the next sequence without adding more reverb or other modulation. I'd like to have the actual audio tail continue into the next sequence for a bar. Completely new to this, any ideas? Stuff I'm missing? Many thanks.

"Truncate Duration" under Preferences maybe. It sets how events are handled at the end of a sequence. Try setting to "As Played".

Hopefully one of the vets can chime in.

Thanks, I'll have a look. All methods of blurring the joins between sequences without effecting the entire sequence will be of interest. In Ableton I'd just extend a bit of previous slot across the change into the next section, perhaps there's an equivalent in standalone? Hard when you can't see a grid of the audio across sequences.

You'll probably be better off using a single long seqeunce and then laying the audio track across the entire sequence. Do this by creating lots of small sequences, chain them together in SONG mode, hit CONV TO SEQ and you have your long single sequence to which you can add audio tracks.

IMO it would have been better for the MPC to handle audio tracks independently of sequences (like the MPC5000 did).

Funny I always assumed the audio tracks were independent of the sequences like the 5000. Then I saw a saint joe video yesterday that said other wise.

In that case I may just duplicate the number of bars in each sequence and put lead-ins/hang-over parts where needed, far from ideal though. Not sure I like the idea of having to convert the beat to song before incorporating audio. But I guess that's only the same difference as moving from session to arrangement view in Ableton.

Yeah having tried everything else, this does seem the best method, opening up multiple audio tracks as you go to overlap where needed.

I probably would have solved it like this:

Copy the guitar sample. Add it to the same program as the original guitar sample and assign both samples to the same mute group so they cut eachother off.

Place the copyed sample on the very first step of your ‘next sequence’. Adjust the start point of that sample so that at the beginning of the sequence it will play the tail of that guitar sample. Have to listen and match untill you find the correct start point of your copyed sample/ guitar tail for a natural overlap. Kind of a workaround, but gets the job done.
