Adding anything to the Live, seems to takes away from the portability aspect of the machine.

Pick it up Mpc
Plug in headphones
Turn it on
Load Sounds
Start making music.

However adding this its.

- Pick it up MPC
- Plug in headphones
- Turn it on
- Patch Ipad Cables
- Turn on ipad
- Launch IPAD Software
- Load Sounds on MPC and iPAD
- Make sure everything is working.
- YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook, OS Update notifications come in on iPAD
- You update all the ipad updates
- Restart ipad
- relaunch software and load sounds
- Forgot what you were doing.
- Lost inspiration
- Come on MPC Forums on the same ipad
- Talk about how you're tired of technology.
- Compare the sound of a MPC 60 and MPC 5000
- Get upset
- Leave the MPC Forums
- Come back complaining about no updates
- Try to figure out a way to integrate an ipad
- Nominated for 2018 COTY

All jokes aside, if AKAI PRO release a Synthstation 49 but in a Drum Machine format with the same build quality of the Live or X. That is something I would pick up.

Make so it works with lighting port and usb C ipads.
Charges the IPAD at the same time.
Full version of the MPC 2.0 software on IOS.
Same I/O or add more.

I was looking into that same gear a long while back, but, was so disgusted with
Akai Pro I moved on with extreme prejudice.

It was not built well, especially that 30 pin connector.

I'm specifically interested in combining the Live with an iPad running iMPC Pro 2 to sub in for MPC 2.2 software on the go.

My understanding is that iMPC runs AU plugins. You (or anyone) have any experience with this? I'm wondering about the iPad's performance with plugins... how many instruments could I typically run in a project?

Smackdee wrote:As someone else mentioned that new one is looking just fabulous with the addition usb-C that will definitely make iOS life a lot easier... It’s also got a better/more powerful cpu chip too, I gotta get it lol... As for interfaces you can’t go wrong with the Zoom U-24,all the inputs and outputs you need as well as midi all for 99 bucks and it’s class compliant so it’s plug and play!
I'd been thinking about replacing my previous generation iPad and I'm glad I waited. I'm sure the extra power will help running the instrument plugins I'd want to use.

Ill-Green wrote:Yeah, it look flimsy. A great idea nonetheless, but the way thats executed, I don't like it, especially when its on the faceplate. I would've made it classier and just make those DJ type stands where the base would go under the MPC Live and the iPad hovering over and anywhere you want it. But thats me and I built a **** super stand for mine, so you know where I'm coming from ;)

The angle is off, looks shaky, and it won’t fit the larger iPad Pro. Perhaps a portable case that fits the MPC Live and iPad. Make it like a MPC Live clam case. Where it opens up like a laptop and you can still access the rear controls.

I have some friends there, who will be testing some audio interfaces and other midi peripherals for that purpose. Also if it does not work out, I just drive over to any apple store and return it.

The Roli seaboard and iRIG PADS are supported.

I have the seaboard rise 25 and it does NOT work with the MPC.

1) If you use bluetooth it disconnects every few seconds. The blocks seaboard is on a different bluetooth and is fine.

2) So using USB. The MPC does not handle MPE. The complex messages from the rose 25 sends the MPC into flipping of screens and general mayhem. Totally unusable IMHO.

That was in reference to the IPAD PRO, not the MPC LIVE/X.
