Remixing songs using longform stems with the MPC X/Live?

An R&B/Pop producer friend of mine asked me to produce a Lo-Fi Hip Hop remix for a single he produced and I want to do it completely with my MPC X so I can avoid going back and forth with Studio One.

He will be sending me longform stems and of course the exact song tempo but what I don't understand is how I can create sequences to theses stems which is how I prefer to do remixes.

Anyone?

What about using Clip mode? Or could you not arrange them using Song?

Chopping them up in 8bar phrases and program that in 8bar sequences?

Or make one long sequence, program the stems and set the loop for the part of the sequence you’re working on and go through the song like that.

Track count?Track length?
If too many of that you’ll hit the out of memory wall..

Bummer... I was hoping for something along the line of other DAWs, but I guess I'm going to have to use Studio One.

If Akai gives us a real track view like in the software, where we can actually see the wave forms stacked. I think that would be a game changer and you would be able to do what your asking.

Fre$h my man... absolutely go nuts with Studio One... but you are missing a great opportunity to really dig into chopping with your Live. These kinds of opportunities are where I like to really just rip a track to shreds and give it the old artistic treatment.

Don’t be afraid that stems aren’t the best way to work with... instead embrace the sampler and chopping. If you give it a chance I guarantee you can flip the track in ways you would never think of in Studio One.
