JJOS for MPC X & MPC Live?

What better way to stick it to Jack O'Donell than to hack his flagship MPCs than for a JJOS to hit the underground market. Agree disagree...

Not sure it would achieve anything too bad for Jack as you'll be getting more people buying the MPC hardware so they can run the unofficial version. I would have thought developing a proper hardware competitor to the X/Live would be far more disruptive and ultimately better for the market as a whole.

I would say that both ideas are very welcome..

Because of the lack of compatitors Akai isn't urged to deliver the missing features.
But if there was a JJ-OS for the units you will see Akai copy the unofficial features to their own

Both would be an win for us as end users.

Disagree. The Push and NI's Maschine are all good competitive alternatives. I loved Maschine, but hated the workflow hence why I came back to Akai. Everyone is looking for the best hardware/software combination. No one has quite dialed it in yet, with maybe the exception of Ableton being the closest to the finish line. I love my MPC Live but I hope Akai understands the goal to create this perfect combo. They're getting pretty close minus a few shortcomings.

I can't argue with you on this, but I would think having a JJOS version out there which outperforms Pete Goodliffe's version would get under their skin. I mean Pete has a team of software engineers and none of them thought of PDC, sidechaining, mixer presets, audio to midi conversion?
