Hi folks
I'm still fairly new to my MPC Live so please forgive me if I missed something obvious:

I've got a number of drum loops which tend to be 1,2 or 4 bars long.
I can assign them to pads, to play them. That works fine.
However, if I want to assemble them into a complete performance in Grid view, the grid only shows the position where a loop is being triggered from on the timeline (a red square), however if the drum loop is, say, 4 bars long, the red square on the time line isn't stretching over 4 bars, so I cannot see where my loop ends. This means assembling several loops together is a nightmare because you can only see their start point but have no idea of their duration or end point on the timeline.
Is there some kind of view option that allows me to display the full length of a loop (or any other kind of sample) on the Grid so I can see its full duration? Even better would be a way to change the red blob into an actual mini view of the waveform ( As you can probably guess, I have been an Acid Pro user for many years!).
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Are you playing grid view via pads or just drawing them in? If you know the loop is 2 bars you can hold the pad or draw the note in for that length. When drawing it in grab the edge of the red note to the right.

If you need to see the loop length you open the sample in sample edit mode and hit the cog to change the option from beats to bars. No way to see the wave file in grid view, it’s a midi note triggering the sample. You can also see the full wave when using audio tracks,

Fellow acid users, been using it since 2.5.

What they need to add is a marker at the trigger point of the sample/loop (say, a black mark), followed by a longer marker (say, in red) that shows the duration of that sample. Otherwise, trying to play loops in sequence is a nightmare, because you have to guess where one ends before you place a new one.
Simply showing the MIDI trigger point where a sample starts playing doesn't cut it, it only gives you half the information you need to make a decision where to place the next sample in your song. It seems like they didn't think this through properly!

Go to program editing and change the pad setting from one -shot to note-on.
Now go back to grid view and don't simply paste your note edit the end of you note and stretch it as long as needed.

This way you'll know how long your sample will play.

That would be nice. They could also add some type of alternate track view, like in an actual daw. That way we can arrange songs with the waveforms themselves and zoom in and out of the timeline.

I agree, given your preferred workflow its clear you should be using loops in a 'note on' fashion rather than one shot. Either draw the required length in or record them in real time by holding down the pad for the desired length
