The bulk of the sample content came on DVDs, so there's around 500GB which already has an emergency backup. As painful as it'd be to have to rely on it, it is there nevertheless. The content still lives in three places, even if one of those places is a shit load of DVDs.

Treating it like a 10 second sampler is not in the cards for me. The majority of my samples will be multi-sampled instruments, as detailed as projects can handle. I can see me in the same class as Coz, maybe for different reasons.

I haven't fitted a drive yet, but once it's recognised on your PC, couldn't you just optimise it like any normal ssd?

The maintenance software helps to keep the sad drive running at optimal efficiency. Also let’s us know if things are going wrong.

I meant that I trim files and make sure everything is optimize. No wasted space. I won’t use 1 gig of space, for something that only takes 100 mb. I keep it lean, like Kobe Beef.

I am using the SanDisk SSD Plus 240GB in the X, and the 120GB in the Live. Both as reliable and fast as I could hope for thus far and cheaper than Samsung alternatives. Plenty of space I think, got the larger one for the X as this is the main unit I've been producing on.

As the the files are loaded into RAM anyway and there isn't disk streaming, the speed of the drive isn't that important, but again the SanDisk is fast enough for me (and faster than an SD card). I like having an SSD with no moving parts and its also quiet too.
