Bravo Akai!!! Well done. I know still no PDC but we gotta give them this. I can see a bright future.

So if I have a 3rd party VST of say BassStation with a bunch of different basses in it, how could I get this to work in standalone mode with auto sampler....?

What an incredible update and so many possibilities in the future.

I agree strongly.
This is a strong update and should largely silence all of those who have been saying that Akai will probably drop the development. I mean, this is a great look. I've been secretly thinking I'd LOVE a synth – never in my dreams did I think there'd be THREE synths…hehe, this is borderline crazy, in the most positive way.
And those synths sound dope. Already saw a video of Tubedigga doing some radical stuff with some of them.

I did also wish that plugins would get GUIs but never voiced my thoughts – such a dope quality of life update for plugs!

Yes man I am also still waiting for a Clip mode fix.
If you could switch from clip mode to other modes keeping the clips go, it would be a dream come true.
Anyway this update seems great my friend, I can finally sell my external synth and just use MpC.
Very good work.

I'm still a bit confused by this. Are these actual plugins or expansions? If they're plugins, are they a new Akai format as oppose to AU & VST? Is this format more efficient to where the available CPU/RAM can handle a few of these in a project?

If these are actual plugins, I hope it's as simple as 3rd parties adding the new format to their existing line up.

Either way, cool stuff.

What a week to be out of town on business... without my Live. Can't wait to see this in person. Until then, reading opinions and watching vids will do.

Cool stuff, about what I expected. I'm surprised there's no drum synth though? I suppose it might be harder to implement in terms of people wanting/expecting it to be loadable onto one of the 128 pads instead of as an instrument plug in?

I kind of expect that PDC and side chain will come with 3.0, since it requires way more work than implementing a few synths into a sampler workstation. Same with multitimbral input and sequencing.

Bless you Akai THANK YOU!
My XY FX issue has finally been resolved. Everything else is just cake as far as I'm concerned. :-D :-D :worthy:

Watched Tubedigga's vid. Nice! I'll need to get my Crossfade & Looping skills up to par, but this is a major time saver. Coupled with the new plugins(still a bit confused about these), I'm quite happy.

Still hoping they get around to some other major DAW-type features in the near future though.

The three new plugins are AiR Instrument plugins that have been ported specifically to the standalone OS (Air are another inMusic brand) - we were suggesting this as a possibility in another topic.

They are optimised for the MPC hardware and software. We'll have to test to see what kind of CPU and memory they use.

It's not going to be simple to get third parties on board as the MPC platform is very niche, but maybe Akai will come up with a way to entice them. Or perhaps they'll just restrict it to Air plugins. I personally would like to see Air FX being ported over.

Akai Pro could ask Air to make a good stereo reverb and maybe also a good phaser, two effects that really need to be improved on Live.
I remember I read Xparis or Dan on Geaerslutz saying that 2.4 will focus on effects improvement.
Can someone confirm?

Yes, both set to 24 bit. Flatten pad is now 24 bit, as is the 'Export Audio' button option, but chopping and 'bounce to sample' are still 16 bit.

we'll look in to it. thanks for the report.
