Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Does anyone sync their protools LE setup with the 4000? I used to do it flawlessly with the 2000xl, using midi beat clock, not time code, but now when I record it speeds the tempo up either to 120 or double or something, it's hard to tell. I have the tempo set on protools and am using protools as the master, and have all the settings the same as I did with the 2000. Does anybody know anything i'm missing. The frame rates are both at 30 and the sync is turned on in the 4000. Please help.

Hmmmm! I don't know what that can be......I had a similar problem like that ......The tempo of the song in the mp was 88.7 Well when I set the tempo in pro tools I was setting it at 88.7 instead of 88.70, which caused everything to mess up......! Im not at the crib right now but when I get there I will give you step by step on how I have mines setup......!

in protools goto windows <session setup> make sure the mtc to prt box is checked and make sure the frame rate is 30.
the goto the windows box again and set you tempo/meter to whatever tempo you mpc has. so if your mpc sequence is 90bpm your tempo should be that in protools.

in the 4000 turn the sync on to frame rate 30 midi in MTC.

also add a blacnk 2bar sequence in front of your song so everything syncs properly. sometimes protools has a little delay so that 2bar thing really helps out. peace
