Who's Autosampling Eastwest/Sonudsonline sounds?

I sampled some pad and string presets from Xpand!2 twice. Once with every note sampled and the second time with every 5 notes sampled. Just to see the difference.

That every note key group takes about 76MB per patch. Which is pretty big but sounds much better than the every 5 notes.

I’ll probably do Marseilles from Korg Gadget next.

I did a test of loading up Kontakt in Maschine and loading Maschine as a vst in the akai software. I was able to trigger 32 notes just fine via autosample.

Not been able to figure out a way to auto sample in mono yet - setting to 'Input 1' still creates a stereo file. Mono sampling would make more sense in most cases, so hopefully this will be added soon.

As far as I can tell, the looping option does no automated loop finding (beyond setting edits to the nearest zero crossing point), so it's going to be very hit and miss whether or not you get a nice natural seamless loop (mostly miss I assume on all but simple synth sounds), especially as you have to use the same loop setting for all samples.

I guess you should use the loop option anyway, just in case you get lucky, and for any bad loops head over to SAMPLE EDIT and re-edit the loop more appropriately.

EDIT - I deleted the last section of this post as I previously thought Xfade was destructive but it isn't, the xfade setting is stored in the sample itself so can be adjusted later if need be.

If you select mono in the sampler I think you get mono samples.

Anyone want to chime in with their 2 cents and help me figure out what I should buy to go with the MPC Live? I have a budget of around $500 to $1000 (slightly over that at a push) for either one of more pieces of gear. I keep flip flopping between a Waldorf Blowfeld (because it's multi timbral), an analogue synth like a Deepmind 12d, or an effects processor which I could resample into the Live (like a Korg KP3 or something similar). I've even been thinking about going for pretty much any one of the Elektron boxes (including Analogue Heat). I don't need anything genre specific, just some gear that will really work hand in hand with the Live.

PS - I have a new iPad so I guess apps are an option too. Anyone got any experience of using Modstep (http://modstep.net) with X/Live?

Can’t help you, I keep taking the blowfeld in and out of my cart. It’s been like this since April.

I bought a Boss RV500 to have a good reverb since the Live one is a toy and a KP3+ to mess up and have fun.
I am happy with this set.

I'm going back to 2.1! I'm having plug-in issues and missing GUI's that have been a issue since 2.2

2.1 feels alot more stable to me

I went and made a ton of Mellotron samples from my Mtron instrument. Now I finally have a passable Mellotron in hardware form, and I'm thrilled to death, because I don't have several grand for the real ones.

When I get to a computer I can’t wait to finish off my d-50 patches I downloaded everyone I could find on the internet.... you might find some of my custom patches on the beat camping drive sometime soon

I got both 2.1 and 2.3 running on my system..

First install 2.1 and rename the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Akai Pro\MPC

rename it to:

C:\Program Files\Akai Pro\MPC 2.1

and make shortcut of the MPC.exe to where ever you like (I've put it on my taskbar)

After that install 2.3 and it wil create a new folder that contains 2.3 at:

C:\Program Files\Akai Pro\MPC

You can create a shortcut of the MPC.exe file inside that folder as well (This one too is on my taskbar)


This way you can keep 2.1 on your system and keep updating 2.3 to newer versions.


Just don't forget to install the new MPCX or Live drivers and to restart your computer after doing so.

MPC Live kp3+ and an analog heat and you got all you need.

Sold my kaoss pad but it’s a great mangler. Still have my analog heat is bread and butter plus midi.

Electron is cool otherwise but expensive. The combo mentioned above is very powerful especially with the new synths on the live and auto sample. I’d go to town with free trials of vst and save presets to the live.

If you buy all used you can get close to 1000. Trust it’s all you need. You will find other gear that fits certain roles better but just starting out it might be one of the best out there if you can jive with the workflow.

Also consider the 303 or 404 line up of Roland samplers. Decent digital effects, super simple sampling and file transfers.

Just a heads up, I think there's scripting issues with some Kontakt instruments and Autosampler. I watched Spitfires GUI bounce between articulations in a library while "recording" nothing...
Two different orchestral libraries, Spitfire spits out blank samples, and Cinesamples works fine. It would be nice to know what's going on there, but in the mean time the workaround is probably using MPC-Tutors method for sampling certain Kontakt libraries. Gonna try that out next.

Had sad results trying various methods of getting audio from Reaper, I'm on OSX so an ancient version of Soundflower etc. AIC MIDI is receiving some SysEx dumps, and it seems it's messing with the MPC, you can see what looks like arpeggiator notes being played on the piano roll in MPC2 software. The reason to do this was to record some 32 bit VSTi's into the MPC. I'm thinking I would have better luck using the stand alone version of the MPC to do this, even sending audio from the computer into the MPC.

As a side note, I can get the software to read my system audio just fine though, since I have it routed to SPDIF on a Firface card, so at least sampling youtube bit's is dead easy. A whole lot of experimenting left to do, thinking sending MPC MIDI over IAC is a losing battle though.

Same here. Besides the fact I have to re install 2.3 every time I try to use the MPC software there's a lot of bugs and annoying glitches

-Can't automate XY effects anymore
-Touch screen has way too much latency. (try adjusting level of audition in browser. Half the time it doesn't even work)
-Midi is ****! Playback stops every time when trying to record a midi channel

And this is coming from somebody who loves the Live. It's been a beast for me since buying it at release. This update is super glitchy so **** it
