Turntable to mpc live ?

DO i need a mixer to use a turntable with the mpc live since it has a sound card ? The turntable i will be getting says it has 1 phono / line (rca) outputs

You just plug up the record player to the phono inputs. There is a ground screw on the LIVE.

You do not need a mixer or phono preamp to use a record player with the LIVE for sampling.

Shouldn't I be able to connect my mixer (Pioneer DJM-707) to the Live via phono/RCA?

Coming out of my mixer with RCA cables into the Live is not sounding good; way too bassy. Prior, I always connected the Pioneer to my DigiDesign 002 Rack via RCA cables with no problems. I'm assuming RCA in/outputs are standard. Can anyone provide clarification before I attempt to dig out TRS/Line cables or buy a set?

I'm pretty sure the phono inputs on the Live are only for phono sources so your line level output from your mixer is getting the RIAA EQ curve applied.

Easy fix is to use the 1/4" jacks on the Live and make sure the switch is set to Line.

Ahhh, the RCA outputs from the Pioneer are line level. Ha!

Yeah, just wanted to make sure I'm understanding before I addressed this.
