cut paste in stand alone

Hi
How do I cut and paste parts of a pattern in stand alone? Say if I have 2 bars of hi hats and want to extend the pattern to 4 bars and paste the hi hats but not the other drums. I swear I used to press shift and have the cut copy options there but that no longer works. What am I missing?

This is just pattern related, I know the functions on the main page, pencil icon etc.

that is what I usually do, use the select tool... shift shows the copy button at the bottom of the screen. I have not had an issue of that not being there yet.

I just adjust the total amount of bars from 2 to 4 and go into grid edit mode, us the selection tool to highlight the notes i want to copy and pres the copy button.
After that you can nudge them with the wheel to whatever position you want. (On the MPC X that is)

In pattern edit mode when I hit shift it brings up TC, click, mute, solo.
When I use copy it brings up pad copy

Do you mean GRID EDIT mode? Working fine for me in 2.3. The COPY button does nothing in grid edit mode, shift give me cut, copy, paste etc.

Thats strange.. on yhe X it should copy the notes after you 'highlight' them..

You are using the draw tool.

What do you get when you use the select tool?

Same with all four tools. Could it be the version I am running? My PC died so I have been using as standalone for months (which I am enjoying more)

I've been complaining about copy/paste on this thing since I got it. Copy is inconsistent, sometimes meaning copy, sometimes copy & paste / duplicate, sometimes nothing. Not sure how I did it since it was by mistake, but I'm sure I've duplicated selected notes in Grid Mode. But I'm almost certain it was in the software.

I've been relying on the Main/Pencil Icon method you described.

I've only just started using an MPC Live (as My First MPC), but I've noticed similar, with erase too. More consistent context-dependence for such buttons would be very welcome.

Highlighting notes in Grid mode and then pressing COPY duplicates the notes to the right (by grid size, if I remember correctly).

Sorry, brain freeze on my part. Yes, if you select the notes you wish to copy, press COPY button to copy/paste that selection in one move.
