Just spotted this. The program created by autosampler only tunes samples 'up', never down, which IMO is not the most efficient use of keygroup tuning. Consider the following:
Note range: C0 to C4
Note Stride: 5
This creates samples C0, F0 and so on.
Keygroup 1 uses a C0 sample, covering note range C0 to E0.
Keygroup 2 uses the F0 sample, and is covering F0 to A0.
So in the autosample program, the E0 is created by tuning C0 up by 4 semitones. This is crazy. You should instead by using the F0 sample and tuning it down by 1 semitone.
With a note stride of 5 (IMO) you should set the sample you recorded to the centre of the keygroup's note range, thus limiting tuning by a max of +/-2. So:
Keygroup 1 (uses a C0 sample), so should cover the note range Bb-1 to D0.
Keygroup 2 (uses the F0 sample), so should cover Eb0 to Gb0.
I can only assume that Akai have decided that tuning down = bad, no matter how little you are tuning?
