Any mpc users from toronto? - I'll pay for a personal tutor

I got an MPC2000, but I'm getting frustrated figuring it out, I might give up and move to computer software.

I dont wanna give up because I'm aware that the MPC is the industry standard for hip hop music and I wanna find out why.

Samplekingz.com instructional video didn't help, anybody got any ideas?

why pay just read up man! it's free here dont get frustrated, it takes time , i just started two years ago  and i dont have anything half as good as what these guys put out im still learning tho,this site helps out likeyou wouldnt believe, just sit down with your mpc and study it, mess around with it get to kno it, then b4 u kno it your pumpin out tracks ,besides i dont think there is a lesson plan for this machine, study this site it is very informative........[/color]

true man, though it never hurts to take some lazy fools money once in awhile...this one kid paid me a grip to teach his ass how to scratch......hehehhe.....sucker....went to his house, got on his gear for an hour, smoked his weed and jetted with $50 and some of his vinyl...what an herb[/color]

Now the stuff you should enjoy.

Yes , the more you use it the better you'll get.
Yes , us fools are here to help you every step of the way , fool.
Yes , it really IS worth the money you paid.
Yes , real famous like producers use it.
Yes , YOU can rock the machine like them or better with time.
Yes , it does suck that the samplekings jerked you outta your money , but , after you learn a little more , you may indeed go back to that tape with a better understanding and then flip what they showed you and be ill.

Ok , now I don't wanna sound like an @sshole or a smart @ss but I just wanna let you and all the other new guys know that it is gonna take patience.

Tell MPC tutor to fix that wack @ss " search" function and , if he does , then look through the archives because I bet that most of you problems with understanding the MPC have already been addressed.

You never even told us how long you had it for.
I've had mine for 6 weeks give or take a week and I'd bring my girl back to her momma before I return my MPC.
And my girl is a straight dime and I aint joking about which one I'd keep.[/color]

One of the best things a guy could do is have a musician (preferably a drummer) who knows how to read music sit down and teach you some basic rhythmic musical theory (like what a bar/measure is; how bars are divided into notes-like quarter notes, eighth notes, sixteenth notes, etc.; what a triplet is; what a "swung" note is)
Understanding the "concepts" first will enable you to apply them on the MPC, or any drum machine, because the way these things are programmed has everything to do with these concepts.  Even if you quit the MPC, that knowledge will come in handy on the next machine or software you try as well.

From what I understand, the SampleKings have a video for beginners(not the MPC vid) it's just called Drum Machine Programming or something really general like that.  This might help learn basic programming stuff (like what does quantize do, etc.)

Personally, I ALWAYS read the manual for gear.  More than once. More than twice!  I like discovering every dang thing a machine can do, so I can work the sh*t out of it.  But it takes reading the manual more than once to memorize exactly how to every dang thing.[/color]

This response is a while in coming. Did you make any progress with the 2000? If not...wanna sell it? I have a 4000, a bit of a learning curve but eventually you work through it.
