Can’t disagree with you there. If I use them, it’s only for hearing how things will sound / gel later when I mix in my DAW using my plugins that I think sound much better. I’ll use the MPC fx to compose, then turn them off when I export so my stems are dry.

BTW, this thought reminds me of a gripe I have. Had the same gripe on the 5000, and they fixed it from what I recall - don’t have my 5000 anymore.

Let’s say I have 50 samples in memory, and I want to assign samples 34 - 45 to a program. In Program mode, when I tap a pad, I scroll to the 34th sample. When I tap the next pad, I have to scroll all the way through the first 34 to get to sample 35. I think they fixed it on the 5000 so that the scroll location would be at the next alpha-numerically named sample, so that we wouldn’t have to scroll through all of the samples again, just to get to the next one in order.

Hope I’m explaining this well. It would be nice if the location was retained to stop the constant scrolling when assigning samples to a program. Now, I say all this knowing that it’s not critical. Just a gripe of mine. It’s an annoyance, nothing more - and doesn’t impact the way I make music (unlike some of the issues others are talking about on these boards).

I agree and have the same opinion about those fx.... that is not the point i was making. We are talking about Akai (InMusic) here... not any of the software companies you are used to using. You may have heard of Akai (InMusic) from such disasters as the mpc 5000, the mpc 1000 and 2500 without JJOS, MPX 8 and MPX 16, the rhythm wolf, the timbre wolf, and many other badly coded or designed products.

Maybe they add more, but i doubt they recode a working plug in because it sounds shitty... those guys made the damn timbre wolf.

Akai is working good now.
They invested a lot in Mpc Live and X and they are taking care of them.
If you see how it evolved in one year, it is improving update per update, and they are listening to customers suggestions.
I am fine now with my Live, and I cannot say I was happy with it one year ago.
One Akai engineer said some time ago on GS that there will be a future update with fx improving.
So I have trust in that.
Maybe next update? Maybe next year? Maybe next century?

Is the Wolf a bad machine? I was thinking about getting one, as it looks nice and may be just the midi controller i desire. So it's full of problems?

bwahahhahahaaa i came here looking for simpler ways to save samples (without the program procedure) and found this timbre wolf vids...man...given how bad the rhythm wolf sounded to my ears i never gave the timber any attention...but never knew it was such a disaster...lolz

I don't think they did fix it on the 5000, might be wrong though.

The 4000 has this, it's a real time saver when building keygroup programs, but the 4000 has all manner of little workflow 'gifts' like this, whoever built it really understood what actual users needed. I just don't really see much of that going into the MPCs these days, I would love to see how all the old-school Akai programmers would have approached the touchscreen UI.

they kinda fixed this in the MPC Live/X where you can enter a number & it will jump to that sample
