Or maybe this is good thing for us Live and X owners because the operating systems are so similar? Just have a bad feeling about this

It appears to be the same SOC, that's inside the LIVE/X. They just had time to refine the GUI.

It's the same OS with some small tweaks. The GUI is much more straight forward. Should be easy to update them both.

The specs on both Sweetwater and the Akai site say 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage for sounds, and 4GB storage for the MPC OS.

This is the same as the MPC Live and X. There's 2GB RAM, the 16GB internal SD card for sounds, and 4GB eMMC for the firmware.

2 things that stand out for me

1) The mixer layout. It seems better and more traditional.
2) Air effects. Now you can se that it is possible.


I would like to see these 2 things finding their way into the MPC's.

It's not a different OS at all. Most of it is quite obviously the same. The GUI is just a little different, and who knows how much of that will come to the MPCs, we'll see with the 2.4 announcement at NAMM.

Right now I'm doubting we'll get that clip mode if we attach an APC40, but the upgraded mixer might come.

it makes total sense why you guys added a bunch of goofy features (clip lunch,) to the MPC. Yall wanted it to be the force the whole time. Yall murdered the hiphop soul of the mpc.

Since y'all got a new focus I want my drum timing back. Put it back. I want to groove again.

I'll be happy if just some of those goodies make it into the new MPC firmware, the new TUI would be most welcome as would improved time stretching performance.. fingers crossed for some good news at namm...

A 4gb device cannot be exactly the same of a 2gb device.
They will give Force what we cannot have because our Mpc cpu is weaker.
And of course Force will be the flagship of Akai so they will invest on that.
We will just have the chance to get a Force or wait for a Live2 with 4gb.
I think it's obvious.

So is it 4gb or 2gb?
This makes a big difference for mpc users.
If it's 2gb it's good, we will have same features.
If it's 4gb, the Mpc is going to be discontinued soon and we will not take any advantage from Force introduction.
