Official: Akai Force Topic

Knowing Dan from Akai posts updates here, I won't steal his thunder, but for those also on Gearslutz, check post #14065 in the Live thread in the Electronic Music forum for how this relates to the Live/X. Good news.

CPU and Ram are note the same thing.

With these units they are on de same board

I know they are not the same thing.
I am just speculating that a device with 4gb cpu will be able to run more powerful fx and synths that a 2gb cpu cannot handle.
But I still didn't understand if Force has exactly the same cpu as Mpc.
Some people say yes, some say no.
Dan in GS just said they use the same coding and motherboard but use different variations of the same software.
But he didn't say anything about cpu.

Yes, I confirm it's 2gb, same as Mpc.
It is written in Akai site and also in a review I was reading.
So what runs on Force will run on Mpc.
Does this mean Akai is giving us Air fx and a new synth?
That would be very kind for us.

The CPU and RAM is the same as in the Live and X.

The 4GB figure mentioned is the eMMC storage that holds the firmware. It is not RAM. The Force also has 2GB RAM.

I'm really surprised by the Ableton Live integration. I think I even said something about eating my old boots if that happened! But I think it's a good thing. I've sort of moved on from Live myself, but at least it means that everyone's still friends, and that's good.

to clarify, its the same codebase. The MPC will be getting 2.4 soon, and will officially be announced at NAMM.

Force is running the same OS, and what you're seeing in the force videos are features that will be rolled into MPC as theyre ready in the next year. Note the new mixer, audio views, a static "pad perform" style pad that works on any page, etc etc etc.

That's all I can say, as the announcement is forthcoming, but I'm sure you know what's coming, as its not up in the AIR right now

(oh, and thats not all for 2.4. you guys will like it)

Gotta say, though, that the recent updates have been giving me some faith in Akai.
I was really close to selling my Live, but didn't.
Looking fwd to 2.4.
BTW Dan mentioned 3.0 in passing on GS.

No Hype for 2.4
Looks like it’s heavy in sample use so live and x don’t have the storage. You’ll have to install separately and have a SATA for the samples and waveforms etc

I asked this on another forum but I'm just curious: I assume this will be formatted the same way as the MPC Live. If that's so, can I take the external hard drive from my MPC Live and pop it into the Akai Force and it reads it with no extra setup?

Yes honesty it was what I wanted since I discovered Air made the synths.
I am very happy for that.
I could.even say after 2.4 I am fine, Mpc will become what I wanted from the beginning.
