@Machinesworking :
" I like to use the tool most suited for the job, editing and recording vocals on the MPC stand alone sounds like a lot of extra work when the computer is right there. "

Are you kidding me? ITS NOT ABOUT YOU! Other people want to do the entire project in the machine. Did not Akai promote STANDALONE? Akai has put the dopest converters in the Live/ X. Doing vocals in it is sweet. They put 48+ phantom power on it for a reason. :WTF:
You want ram usage gone now youre talking about mic usage! :Sigh: :hmmm:

Music equipment does not age out, the same way a PS4 does. You either follow the new direction, find something else, stay where you're at, or use something old. The best thing about Akai Force, Live, X going back to standalone, is that Akai Pro is not tied to Apple, Microsoft OS updates, which tend to break things.

I believe this is why more people want, the Live, X, Force to do more. They are just tired of being locked down, smacked down, and stranded by MAC OS or Windows. They just want it to work and not be concerned that the latest security patch, will render their gear useless, because it tied to PC.

Yo have you used a tall plastic bottle of black pepper to make a nice light shaker? OMG! Sweet! Grits make a dope shaker. Tynenol pills, salt, mineral oil gel pills etc. :smoker:

Lampdog wrote:I have used a half empty box of grits with mic taped to it for creating 'shaker' samples.
It works GREAT.

Grits, eat em? Nah, SHAKE EM.

Sorry, I get long winded and thus come off the wrong way sometimes.

My thing is - you are 1000 right about "if you use it for 10 years", its how I justify the money I've spent on Synthesizers, its how I justified the Push 2 purchase - even though I had a Push 1, it's how I even justified the Live - how much will I use something is the bottom line for value. So my concern (more 'was' than 'is' as all arrows point to skipping the X and grabbing a Force with other stuff I'm working on right now, but 2.4 and NAMM reveals will answer that) is...

*Redacted*
I hate myself sometime(s).
*Redacted*

I'm wondering what will happen in the future.

All product lines get a refresh at the same time, short changing Force users...
or
MPC Line is on a different refresh schedule despite sharing hardware...
or
Something doesn't survive...

Either way I guess it actually doesn't matter. They won't hold off a MPC update because of the Force, and the Force won't impact the real value of purchasing a MPC X.

It's too bad they didn't shove a battery into the Force. That would drastically change its role. I wonder why they didn't.

Putting a battery would take away from the LIVE. Akai Pro is not releasing the Force, to be an MPC replacement. That is why it's built around clip/scene work flow. Those who work that way, will get the device. Yes, it has the MPC OS inside it, but it's not MPC.

It's an Akai Ableton LIVE controller that functions as a standalone.

@Unreal:

Don’t worry it’s all good..

Now that you mention it there is indeed no battery in the Force..

I think that Akai is trying put up different lines of products that’s targeting different users/genres..

Not a bad move.. Can’t wait to get the promissed features that are still missing. For me It will make the units complete..

I know he didn't get paid by akai to say the stuff he said on that video it's how he Really feels.

The check was still deposited though.

??Maybe?? tho. As you mentioned, its workflow is based around Ableton more than traditional MPC, so is it really stepping on toes? There are people like me who might swap the devices out, but wouldn't they conceivably pull in more people?

And yes I'm speaking from the Salty Place :lol: . I'm not as interested in stand-alone at my house, I'm more interested in working on music remotely. Being able to pull something out by bag, and just work without a bunch of non-sense is great (today it was the Digitakt, tomorrow the MPC Live). Since they "already have the tech", let me live a little haha.

I do wish I could play test the Force and the X though. It's a shame that at least the GCs/SAs near me won't put either on display for customer use. I get it, but it would help so much.

Just finished watching some Force demos and don’t feel like it’s being targeted at MPC users..

The tracks that were demo-ed (Masada for example) could easily be produced on an Live or X..

I think that the roadmap will be for the Live and X to co-exist allong with the Force..

@charlesrandolph

Great. I totally agree.
I worked 10 years with Mac, and after 10.10 and the mess they made with 32/64 plugins incompatibility I just said **** off and started to get electronic devices and hardware until I found Mpc Live.
Apple is over.
Windows is not feeling so good either.
I think computers are going to disappear soon, maybe not immediately but the future is for Tablets and dedicated devices like Mpc.
And I don't wanna use tablets for now

I think they will see which one sells more and then develop an upgrade with more Ram and 3.0 software.
I have the feeling X will be discontinued soon.

I do not trust anyone opinion, who received an advance machine. All videos coming out are marketing and they are under an embargo. I also don't trust any video from retail companies, who sell the device. Or so called music press, that have affiliate links to buy the machine. Or a company demo personnel, who does a so called review, on their YouTube channel.

They all are just simplified or glorified commercials, don't fall for any of it. Stop drinking the poison water. Call your local music shop and request a in store demo. Ask the company for a full white list of the specs. Get a copy of the full manual and read it. It's too easy for anyone to come here and pretend to be end user.

Ditto.. I feel the exact same way. The for e isn’t meant to take over the Live or X.. It’s obvious a piece that will work within an ecosystem that Akai is seemingly trying to create. It’s a compliment piece for us, a controller for Ableton, and a dj tool that links with that new Denon piece(inMusic). As far as the Akai ecosystem goes, think of what NI’s Jam is to NI’s maschine ecosystem. People trip over nothing sometimes. This move by Akai is a smart one.

I posted the Force and Denon DJ SC5000M Prime as a hope they will work together. It's has not been confirmed that they will link with each other, in the fashion that posted. It would be cool, but it's just a guess.

I wouldn't say PCs is going to disappear . No time soon. What is happening is PCs are getting smaller and more powerful. Quiet and more flexible to one's taste.  Intel chips are smaller and powerful. Thanks to SSD now they are becoming cheaper. :-) great reviews and they look great and take up less space. Gamers are getting into them heavily.
Cube computer PCs is coming up fast. They are powerful and quiet. The computer lm getting is being built now its not a cube but its smaller than those legacy desk tops. And crazy cheaper than a freakin Mac.
i7 64 bit and 4.5 bus speed, whew its dope.
I had the Mac Xeon from 2009 to 2012. With Protools Le worse experience.  I got rid of both and will never use a desk top Mac to do my music and Protools as my DAW.  That's why l invested in Studio One and Reason. Studio One is off the chain and l don't want to go into how dope reason is. For me the computer will not go anywhere and others will use the computer for others things than music.  Ipads and that type of stuff is portable  use.
