I never heard the Los Angeles Philharmonic complain about MIDI Multitimbral.

Player: I want to play the Tuba part and my Flute solo at the same time.
Conductor: Not going to happen, that's why we have a Tuba player.
Player: But only if my Flute had MIDI Multi Timbrel.

Honestly, when did playing one Midi Instrument on track one. Then copying track one to track two, then changing the Midi Instrument. LOL

For example, using the midi lanes in your DAW to control separate instruments on the MPC Live/X/Force.

That is what I understood the issue to be too. For midi, I am more used to it being called "multi mode".

It would allow you for example to play more than one program at the same time, for example a key group with your left hand on a keyboard and with your right hand a drum program using pads.
Or you could be playing the keygroup program and your friend could be playing a different program on a different midi channel.

The Live/X is already "multitimbral" because it can playback more than one program at a time. But it's midi input is stuck in "omni mode", which means whether for recording to the sequencer or for live playing you only have access to one track/program at a time.

Midi "multi mode" is as old as the midi specification. It is normal for a multitimbral midi sequencer/sound module to have "multi mode".

I can live without my Live having midi "multi mode". But I do wonder, does anyone at the moment, use the second midi in port on the Live?

In the future. they'll complain about not having an Auto Music MIx Function.

IMHO this way of making fun of others' needs is a bit immature…either that or you don't understand the issue.
Yeah we COULD go back to not having Google and having to rely on oldskool phonebooks and landlines, but since the tech is there, we don't have to, thank god, and these days we assume the tech is there. Same goes for samplers, since that tech was invented ages ago.

I understand this need if people want to use the Live in a live set, for example, so they want to do different programs to respond to different midi channels.
Bass on midi track 1, lead on 2, drums on 3 etc…Don't use it like that myself but can understand well why some do....
That's not even new tech; old machines and old Akais did work like that, so that omission is baffling once again.

I agree. This is why I ask why does my live have two midi in ports?

I get that some people will never be satisfied and always want more. But as is, I can connect two midi controllers, plus a third by usb, but only have them play one track/program. Seems like a wasted opportunity to have 32 channels worth of midi in ports but only be able to use one at a time.

Again, I say this as someone who is not really bothered about midi multimode/multitimbral reception. I just feel that those who do want it have a justified point. Given the nature of the hardware and it's available inputs, it is a surprising omission.

1. It's called having a sense of humor.

2. This has been a long standing issue with the MPC's, I thought the MPC 60 could do it, but I could be wrong, and I don't have one to test it on.

3. Did you read the OP's post. He was not looking for a solution, he was looking to complain. :WTF:

I can literally not believe it.

They have lost a customer.

Anyone want to buy a so called "Live"?

I don't need multimidi input and disk streaming and after 2.4 I think I am satisfied with my Mpc, I have all I need.
But I can understand someone wants multimidi inputs. It would be nice for me if we could lock an external keyboard so when we change track, we still have a synrh or keygroup on the keyboard.
As for disk streaming, I am afraid it could be a big mess. What I like of Mpc is that it really has zero latency so when you push play it starts immediately. That's very good when you play with others.
I wonder if multimidi and disk streaming will change this.

I'm just gonna highlight this.

You know, for science.

I just said I don't need it but if they make it I would like it.

I'm not sure what your point is.

Can you please clarify?

Sense of humour can be subjective, where as, i think there are reasonable objective reasons why people might "complain" about the lack of midi multimode input, in a multitimbral sequencer/sound module. Especially one with more than one midi input port.

I'm pretty sure the "solution" implied by proofofghosts was "multitimbral implementation".
