Trade X for Touch?

The touch installs a video cardish driver, so he’s probably talking about a conflict with high sierra.

My bad, should've been more clear. I only mention Apple as some blame Apple, some blame Akai.

Yeah, either the display driver or DisplayLink app was incompatible with High Sierra. My fear was that it could happen again. With the Touch being the oldest of the new generation MPCs and not mentioned on the last couple of 2.0 updates, who knows when its last update will be.

It worked fine on Windows 10 but just mirroring the desktop? The monitor is 2 feet away I can look at. Perhaps I am not their target customer?

If you have a 4000 and still love it and have no complaints, why not just sell the live and go back to the 4k? I have a Maschine Studio and every since I got my MPC Live its been collecting dust. Why? the pads suck, I have a great computer I just built and still get latency and software glitches. Also browsing sounds instead of making music. I'm on the Live every day. The sequencer is solid and zero Latency. This is my first MPC and I don't see myself going back to Maschine. The Maschine sequencer isn't that great, it works but clunky and not straight forward. I think having the option to be tethered to a computer is way better then being forced.

Eh, get the MPC500.

In case you Guy's did not read other thread. I decided not to sell my X as of now. You have to figure even if I do not use stand alone. The extra features alone are worth $800 to me. The bigger tilt screen, 16 O-LED Q-links ETC. Mainly I would lose $300 if I sold it anyhow. Virtually making Touch just as much money as X anyhow.

Did you mean 5000. I have that one but not 500. Look, first of all I hardly use a beat box. I mainly play keys. So you can understand my bias to begin with. I overspent. Not the end of the world for me. I have not been a "Pro" for 25+ years.

So if I can justify these "toys" to begin with. Obviously I have disposable funds. Not selling beats or making any money with it. That does not mean I do not have skills. I can make a very nice beat if I must say so myself. Sure, other people are much better too.

The nice thing about these is you can be making music in a day IMO. Perhaps not very good, but still. Mastering keys takes years. I will say not to blow my own horn though. A crowd gathered at GC when I first tried it standalone. So I guess it is impressive enough. Although I have been using an MPC since the 80's.

The Touch’s screen is just acting as a second monitor for the connected computer, displaying a custom GUI, via USB. There is inherent lag due to the screen mirroring. More in terms of the touch response than the relating of playhead position, etc. Unless newer versions of the software have improved this. I don’t know. The thing most obvious when operating a standalone model (for me, the Live) is that this lag doesn’t exist.

X does the same? It has way less lag though. Obviously has a faster processor.

Why not just selling X and getting second hand Live?
Same exact features, half price.
