Any chance of Mackie HUI Protocol coming to MPC Software?

Now that we have sidechain maybe we're on the path of true mixing in the MPC. I would love to have a mix controller with motorized faders work with my MPC X's mixer. Even better I'd love it more if Akai created a mix controller with motorized faders that would work with the MPC, Force, and VIP...

Any way I could delete this post since no one wants to engage this topic? Oh what great shame I feel for hoping Mackie HUI Protocol would come to the MPC...

Well, I would love this future too. That would turn the Music Production Centre into a Music Production Studio. For Logic I use the Faderport which also uses the Mackie HUI protocol. Would be really nice to use it together with the Live for mixing. Also giving you more transport control.

You could use a usb controller mixer like Midi Mix or Novation zero Sl.

Your idea is good but I doubt its coming soon.

Mackie Control protocol is the current one - it's an extension of HUI, although all they do is map standard actions to MIDI messages. I have an original 'Logic Control' reflashed to work as a Mackie Control desk. The newer MC-compatible Presonus & Behringer faderbanks take up less studio space.

Akai would need to add midi feedback (changes on the device send out matching control changes) - so like automation on the MPC (or Force!) would move your controls...

- then I realized your topic mentioned 'MPC software' - would be good if MC worked on both the Mac app and the standalones

So Mackie Control Protocol is what we should be hoping for huh?

yep - or both! many software apps support both - and the Avid eucon stuff.

Mackie Control is just midi notes & ccs: http://www.jjlee.com/qlab/Mackie%20Control%20MIDI%20Map.pdf although think it uses midi sysex to update the alphanumeric displays etc - don't really need that to operate an MPC Live

The Behringer BCR 2000 had an awesome Mackie Control emulation.

For the longest, I've been trying to use a control surface to control the MPC's mixers. I'm sure it's been requested. Maybe this MPC will be the one to remedy the situation. All they need to do now, is give the LIVE/X the Akai Force GUI for the mixer and then allow, external devices to Midi-CC the MPC parameters.

I use it for the track mixer in JJOSXL - from a little behringer bcn but it's not ideal - when you change seqs or adjust something on the MPC the controller doesn't update so you can get nasty jumps in level etc.

Something more comprehensive would be nice!
