Try this:
- open the Volume Control. Mute everything you're not using, especially any Microphones
- select menu Options, Properties.
- Make sure your soundcard is selected at the top, then select "Recording" in the "Adjust Volume For" box.
- under "show the following volume controls, check them all, then say OK.
- the Volume Control will now read "Recording Control" and display all your inputs, even things like "wave out mix" if you have it (great for recording normal program output).
- The sliders you see there will be specific to your sound card, but you only want the ones you're actually recording from to be set above 0, and the real input you want to use now should be marked with "Select".
I had some feedback on my laptop, until I found that the internal microphone was enabled and the volume was up...
