Panning assistance Please!!!!!

I own a mpc4000 and i am tryin to pan my parts seperately....ex...snare left pan high hat 2oclock pan and so on....I only have 2 outputs until sweatwater sends me the adat expansion i ordered in august...how do i do this....i turn knobs and i hear no changes please help

Try reading the "MULTI" chapter of the MPC4000 Reference Guide -
that will tell you have to pan a part.

I thought you said you were going to give people page numbers

capcity, did you try the "mixer" window ?

select the sound assigned to "pads" and then pan turning one of the Q link knob

it should work

I think the fella can manage to look in the table of contents and
discern which pages constitue the MULTI chapter, don't you?

Hi, Can you detail to us exactly what you have done so far?

Because, if you do this in the "Mixer" page, you should hear the entire Program
pan from left to right, not just the Snare. Do you hear this?

If after selecting the "Mixer" page, you can select "F2" for "Pad" and have access to
each of the drums in a drum program. You have an FX send and Pan ability per
Drum Sound. You are turning the pan that is on the snare channel and you do
not hear anything?

Are you using Speakers or headphones?

If speakers, can you verify that you have stereo lines going from MPC to Amp?
Also, can you verify that your speakers are plugged into left and right and not A & B?
(Not sure what kind of setup you have)?

i have tried to use the mutli and the mixer to pan.....do i have to use an fx send or something? i am very frustrated right now.....where is my adat expansion..??? still no pan.....i have not tried the pad in the mixer window though

Go to MULTI > MIX(F2)
There you can find a PAN column.

Select the pan field for the part you want to pan and move the jog to pan left or right. Note that to be able to use the panning the part has to be routed to an output duo. L/R, 1/2, etc. You can make this setting in the OUT field next to pan.

For the ADAT board. Goto GLOBAL > CONFIG(F3) to check if your ADAT board is installed correctly. You can also find a setting there to swap 1/2 and L/R this also influences the output routing settings. Default is "1/2: 1/2". When set to this default setting, you can route your parts via the ADAT outputs 1-8 use OUT 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 or 7/8.

If you want to use the mixer go into MIXER select the part and use Q3 (Qlink knob nr 3) to pan the part. You can also select the output in the OUT field there.

You can also make these kind of settings for samples within a part / program. Goto PROGRAM > KG.MIX(F2). And when you use a drum program again also in the mixer. MIXER > PAD(F2)

Best of luck. (no you don't use an FX send. those are for err.... the FX )
