By yahlad Tue Jan 18, 2005 11:19 pm
Hello,

I'm unable to find an answer to my problem. I own a Akai MPC4000 runing software v1.60. Every time i try to read information from my hard drive or cd rom , i get an error message saying "invalid volume handle"?

The MPC seems to work fine otherwise. Some help would be fantastic.

Cheers

Neil

Disconnect the IDE cable and look closely at the "pins" on the connection. I ran into simular problems before, it could be that one of the connector pins is broken or bent. Therefore causing the problem.

Did you install the drives yourself? Did it work before and just start doing this recently? Is the HDD jumper set to master and the CD drive set to slave?

Yes all jumpers are correct. Worked ok, then one day did this. I.m thinking now it may be a dry joint some where on the mainboard.

First answer AWW_NAWW before he starts to shout louder.

Try connecting only the CD drive and see if you that will work. Then try only the HDD. The HDD is most likely the problem.
