Im going to give the OP and othets something to think about. You can say its profound or as a grain of salt.

We know how Akai do with support of their machines they just stop!
Having at least one DAW is necessary. What if Akai drops support for the MPC live/X, what would you do?
I kid you not and l swear to Bobby Womack hairline l would not worry about an update and wouldn't buy another MPC ever!. I would drum program with my Akai LPD8 and keep it pushing.

Ive made great music without the MPC and l can do it agAin.

Heh, I'd be happy with the Mpc Live where it is at now even if they dropped support this instant. I'd like to see how far Akai takes the stand alone software, but honestly, I could ride this pony happily for quite some time.

Honestly, even if they drop support for Mpc right now, I am satisfied with it.
2.3 and 2.4 just brought what I think it was necessary.
You have all you need now, drum machine, bass synth, electric piano, a standard synth, a sequencer, a sampler, a looper and an fx box.
For me is enough to make all the music I want and all is now working properly.
So I could even stop to update it and keep 2.4 for the future.
But anyway I guess we will see 2 or 3 more updates before Mpc X/Live will be finished and then maybe next year there will be a new Mpc generation.

:worthy: Yes sir!

I'm satisfied with my live. If Akai stopped support l would keep my live and bang on it until it breaks. But wouldn't buy another one.

For all the people wanting automation lanes HELL YES YOU NEED A DAW!

I am not using it because I switched to Mpc standalone but I start to miss it.

Slow down there buddy hahaha...
I grew up on Reason, the hardware styled interface just made sense to me, but it feels so much slower than Ableton to build a song, had a REAL hard time with tutorials and classes to get better at it too, the data just isn't out there to the same volume as Ableton/Logic/FL Studio. I kept it in my workflow a bit via Rewire, but as I went more and more outboard with my gear, and got into VSTs (which they weren't' supported at the time)...I just moved past it. I hope to one day revisit it, I've heard mostly good stuff with Reason 10, but I got enough DAWs that I'm working in/learning, along with other stuff eating up my time, so its so far down the list of things to do. It's nice to hear the growing support for it, I always felt like this weirdo - not using Ableton/FL.

with that said, I can't call it the best...I'll take it over FL Studios, I'll take it over anything Akai has released, but its still not touching the two headed monster of Push & Ableton (for ME hehe). With that said though I am curious how people integrate the Live/X into their perspective DAWs. I'm always game for workflow ideas and improvements.

I never found anything that sounds like Reason my friend. I am talking about the sound, not about the interface.
Of course Ableton has a much better interface and its much more comfortable to work with but Reason, as for sound, is another level.
But anyway I am not using Daw to produce sounds anymore because I am fine with Mpc for that.
I don't use Reason since a year and Ableton since two, I just use Studio One to finalize Mpc mix and make a mastering.

How does one DAW "sound" better than the other? You mean the presets? Not asking to be a pain. I've seen this statement multiple times and I don't understand. In the end it's all 1s and 0s that we can control to sound like we want them to. I always thought it's all about the interface and instruments the DAW comes with that inspire us to use them.

Really, not asking to be a pain. Someone educate me please!

Well Reason has its own synths and expansions and they are only for Reason.
So that makes a difference with other Daw.
By the way, it looks that they are trying to make hardware with Reason extensions, this I find it very exciting.

I don't really hear a difference when everything is flat. However, the Software DAW's do behave differently, so perhaps people think it's has something to do with the sound. Now if they are trying to emulate a particular mixing board, then it makes sense. Honestly, it's all about how the software is coded.

I've done recording and rendering test, with all the settings the same, no eq or effects in different Software DAWS, and I heard no difference. Only when we started to tweak things, could I hear color. Overall, the listener won't care if you recorded it in protools or 2 track cassette. They just want the music.

Also I could not tell and I'm sure 99.99999% of people could not tell.

Hey I was not starting the debate if a daw sounds different from the others in flat and with no plugins.
I was just saying that Reason sounds different because it has its own synths and effects and they are really powerful in terms of sound.
That's it.
Give a try to Maelstrom or Thor and tell me if you can use them in another daw

I was not saying you started a debate, I was replying to @eylac's post. Yeah Malström Graintable Synthesizer is native to Reasons, until they need more money and release it as a stand alone.

I use Reason 10 and being it uses VSTs now it's dope. No DAW out there has a dedicated mixer with 8 send effects to it, and emulated SSL 9000 J and all the trimmings. I work fast in it, and I rock like crazy in it. I been using it since Reason 3. And the sound it produces is dope also.

I know what you're getting at heh. To me, when folks are saying that, they are usually talking a combination of presets and integrated synthesizers/FX. Reason does sound different to me than Ableton, but that's because of how I use to whore out Thor in Reason, compared to honestly - the little synth work I do *inside* of Ableton (when I got Ableton I jumped straight to Komplete and was also starting my hardware journey). Ironically, I hear more people complain about the Reason sound, but I like the flexibility of their synths and FX...when time is not of the essence, its sound design options are A1.
But I mean if you really want to test it out, we could always do a Sine Wave test, and maybe a few others. It would actually be a pretty healthy thing to do for the Yt channel *hmm*

If they make Maelstrom as a standalone synth, I buy it immediately.
Or maybe Akai make a partnership with Propellerhead and put Maelstrom as a standalone plugin on next update
Ah ah, science fiction.

Yeah man, if you put the same clip on any daw without any plugin, just flat, it obviously sounds the same.
I don't care so much about this mythology that every daw has a different sound.
They say Protools sounds better and this is why is the standard in studio recording but its not protools in itself, its the digidesign system, converters, audio card and so on.
If you just put Protools on a macbook pro with a focusrite cheap audio card, it sounds as the other daws.
So for me this debate is no sense.
If we talk about Reason, we have to talk about its native modules and extensions.
I listened to some beats I recorded more then 10 years ago with something like Reason 3 or so and I was surprised by how they sounded powerful.
I could never get to something like that with Ableton and Vsts.
I am getting near with Mpc.
So the only daw I would use instead of Mpc is Reason and that's it.
But at the moment I stay with my Mpc Live.
