Resampling, am I missing something?

I was trying to resample some sounds on the mpc 4k from 16bit\44.1k down to 12bit\22k, everytime I set up the parameters and press "do it" the sample rate changes but the bit rate doesn't, can someone explain how to do this.

hy jonespnice ... i never did it ... but if i m not tatlyy wrong i read sometime, somewhere on a forum (or in one of the manuals) that the resample feature just emulates lower bit sounds and not defacto transforms them ... no guarantees though ...

I wrote that once on the DSP forum and it is the most probable thing I can think of. I mean, the lowest compatible bitrate in the MPC is 16 bit so lower bitrate values must be emulated.
