I think the Force is the signal from Akai that they are moving everything back inside the device for more intimate workflows. When you look at Akai's product line, they literally cover all the bases. They have a DAW...they have the controllers; studio, ren...the hybrid; Live\X....and now the "New" standalone; The Force. So I wouldn't be surprised if the next new device is a larger "Force," something the size of the X, that works like the force that also supports MPC 3.0. In essence, you'd have a standalone workstation that you could write entire songs in and then go post production in their MPC software environment without leaving the workstation. Alleviating the need for a 3rd party DAW.
While I get what you're saying, I disagree on the Force being "next" in the MPC release line/schedule, primarily because its running on similar hardware/software, and is really more of a variant of what's out there.
I'm *actually* putting money up that there is a new MPC in the pipeline, but I'm not anticipating it until winter 2020/Spring 2021. There is simply too much horsepower being left on the floor. I'm actually anticipating an iPad1 scenario where the new devices are the real "monsters" of stand alone - that will age gracefully, while the first generation stuff dies off quickly due to limited memory and processing, and users will take it upon themselves to milk every ounce out of it using hacks. I'd anticipate the form factors of the Force, Live, and X to be continued with only slight modifications, and maybe the color adoption of the MPC 2000XL (20Y anniversary). I wouldn't expect much more in terms of features, just finer tuning and more horsepower, along with a growing list of synths, & FXs from third parties.
