while the seq is a step up from 2500, better resolution is fantastic, less clunky beats, i do feel the sequencer is light years behind what elektron have done and akai should take note, parameter locks and all that makes mpc feel prehistoric to compose on, still love it but needs major work, re: export i do it live via rea-routing each pad to a separate track in reaper at 32bit float, works great, much better than off line export as i can stop start sequencer change tempos and all the things song mode cant do yet, x/y fx still too broken to use in controller mode tho, frame rate drops unusable

I use mines in standalone without any outside gear involved. 2000XL is tight l love that machine but its old technology. When l use the MPC live it feels tight like the 2000XL.

Have you tried in standalone mode? Let me know what you think then.

if the seq in live doesnt feel as tight its because the legacy mpc seq ran at 96ppq (pretty much quantized no matter what you did) new seq is at 960ppq so resolution is much higher which for me is great but it may also feel less tight cuz it has more variables, you can change it to 96 in options

Isn't that just the display resolution, not timing?

Nah, it's sequencer and 960 is a great great thing.

It captures ALL the super slight finger nuances of a highly skilled pro piano player.

It captures ALL the super slight drumstick and pedal nuances of a highly skilled pro drummer with midi drum modules.

When I went from ASR10 and 2kxl to Triton Extreme I LOVED it. So many more recordable ticks/slots to put grooves into.

The only reference to ppq i find when searching the manual pulls, “Display Resolution: This is the display resolution (in PPQN—pulses per quarter note) of pulse values in certain areas of the operating system. Please note that this setting affects the display resolution, not the timing.“

pretty sure you will find mpcs like 2500, 2000xl etc had a resolution of 96 ticks per beat. The MPC 4000 and 5000 have a sequencer resolution of 960 ppq, same with the newer software. I would feel the frustrations tapping out a perfect seq on the 2500 to have it timing corrected to the minimum sequencer resoloution of 96ppqn. the new sequencer resolution is dope

elektron still have not figured out how to display their sequencer on a big screen like Akai can. Whats the point of all the power of parameter locks if editing is really impossible because of their small displays, i know they can't do it because if they could it would have been a feature in Overbridge 2

Have you checked out overbridge software for digitakt? its about as finish as mpc software and twice as slick gui, stable performance, seemless transition between standalone and plugin/controller mode or whatever you want to call it. its still in public beta but works perfect for what ive used. true it doesnt address the sequencer side of things but its seriously the easiest sequencer to use
