Longtime MPC user here (MPC60II, 2500 for the past 6 years). I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on an X for studio & live use, as I'm really sick of the bugs/sketchy hardware of my 2500 and the resulting drag on my workflow.

I use my MPC mainly to sequence other machines, and secondarily to sample/sequence samples.

Any major workflow issues/bugs I should consider before buying?

Thanks a lot!

Midi Multi-Timbrality has been a big downer from threads I’ve read.
I really wanted the X to give me what I want so I can retire my 4k. I decided to NOT
buy an X and hold onto my 4k.

Read through the X/Live sub-forum first.

If you are using JJOS on the 2500, please make sure the X can do everything that you currently use via the JJOS.

It took forever to get crossfade loop (which works okay but the GUI is lacking), menu plus pad shortcuts, no simult sequence (there are workarounds with the improved clip mode....

One of the many reasons I didn't buy an X.

Thanks for the replies. I'm starting to have serious doubts about pulling the trigger on the X...seems like there's a few things that the 2500 does much better for my style...which is crazy because...the 2500 is pretty old at this point. You'd think the X would be a drastic improvement on all fronts.

Maybe I should be looking into the 4k, I'm just sick of the buggyness and janky failing buttons of my 2500, I need hardware what will speed up my workflow.

Download the manual for the X , get a nice cup of tea and enjoy. The x does a lot of things right.

I just remember the shock for me with lack of certain features at first but a lot has changed since then.

I pulled the trigger and put a deposit down on the X. Should be here in a week or so. I've already waited a week and a bit. I loved my 2500 jjos,it is great but as far as the style of music I'm looking to make... i like to use sole vsts in the end, I hate tracking out so exploding tracks is a hella plus, and having side chain is nice for down tempo bass music. After owning and selling an mpc live(which I actually got for free), and getting a store to price match another for 2500 canadian, I decided that pulling the trigger was the right idea. In the end I'm actually only payokg like 1700 canadian and that's whatever compared to 2800.00 or whatever it is.

the cv out is dope, I just hope they dont gain more bugs and actually fix the old ones within the OS and add all the things they said they were going to this year. if they do that I'm happy with my purchase.
