Yo lm surprissed the Waldolf wasnt done. But they might do it. I wonder if there is a Spectrasonics forum? I think they can and will do it. Contact them cause you know l dont habe hardware

If I’m understanding this right, Omnisphere has some locked features to emulate the hardware synths in that list, but you have to have the hardware to unlock it, then it auto maps controls of the synth to the Omnisphere equivalents and you get the unlocked emulated versions?

Only thing is that it’s subscription-based - some don’t like that model. I used to dislike it, but warming up to it. Anyway, speculation is that the 5080 inclusion in Roland Cloud isn’t far off. Several Roland synths are in it already, including the 1080. One subscription price. Access to them all, and new emulations are constantly being added. Roland is slowly starting to warm to the “software company” mentality. They should have listened to Eric Persing back in the day, and Roland would have Stylus, Trillian, Keyscape and Omnisphere. LOL

This is the current trend, everyone is trying to be service company. The only downfall to the roland stuff, is that most if not all of it's vintage gear has been emulated to death. Roland is like 15 years late to the party.

For example the JUNO-106, you can use the kwop7 VST by GTG. I tested many of the VST emulations. Some great, some okay, some not worth it. Perhaps I should upload them Beat Camping. I also have most of drums. Name which ones, you use.

Load the drums into Omnisphere 2.6 and see what you can do.

I have not picked it up yet. But I would be surpised if they don't map more of the Waldorf instruments. Currently I'm waiting to test the Kyra before I make my decision.

each of its eight parts featuring a three-band EQ with sweepable mid
dual tube limiters
formant filter
distortion
six-stage phaser
stereo digital delay
comb/flanger/chorus/doubler unit
programmable reverb
All effects units on all parts can be used simultaneously and run at Kyra’s native 96kHz sample rate.

I agree, except for this part. The technology is there and it's never been cheaper. Also people would pay for it. Didn't you buy 2 Akai Force, MPC Live, and the MPC X? If so, that's over 7 grand. Not calling you out, just saying the market is there for a $3000 to $4000 US Dollar Standalone. There are tons of people here with the LIVE and Force or MPC X and Force or Dual Forces or Live and X.

No I didn't buy all that. I have a Force and a Live. I contemplated getting the X (before the Force), and the more I use the Live, the more I contemplate the X, but the cost barrier is just too much, I can buy a JD-XA, MicroFreak, and still have money leftover - with the cost of the X. I contemplated buying (2) Forces, but that was for a specific performance scenario, very specific - so there really isn't anything to call out, I do get stupid with my credit sometime, but I'm not that stupid. As it stands Ableton is still my main work-horse.

Yeah, the tech is there and its never been cheaper, but they would have to develop FOR that tech, and test FOR that tech, and unless they go "to the moon" on the latest and greatest, they'll end up right back where they are on the horse power front, so yes the tech is there and never been cheaper, but it would still be a big note.

I fall into the "don't like it" group. It's healthy for most, but I like having outboard gear that I don't have to worry about "losing", can resell, transport, are reliable, etc. Frankly its easier to do sound design with outboard gear as well. But "I get it"...I just hope that Roland doesn't go all software.

They are headed that direction, but I don't see them getting rid of all their hardware. Due to people who love gear and the Roland keyboard etc. If they can get their software synths right they will kill it. I would just dream to have the 3080 in the MPC Live.

But I think Omnisphere would be very sweet with the MPCX than the live being it has more buttons on hand right there in your face. The Live only has 4 QLink buttons, unless Spectra can map where the QLinks move from bank to bank. But I am loving this LPD8 with Omni, it's great.

I'm sort of happy with where Roland is now. The boutiques are apparently "done", but I'm all for more System-8 style models where you can plug-in and plug-out synths, but still have a full keyboard of knobs to use for adjustments. I'm not some analog snob and have been happy with the ACB tech, I just really hate tuning stuff via the mouse, scripts, etc. Give me one to one, easy to memorize endless POTs.

I actually got real excited about the Omnisphere keyboard add-ons - thanks to me having a solid number of the synths on the list (System-1, System-8, D-05, JX-3P, Peak, etc), but the biggest "hold back" on a purchase is use, when I'm at home in my studio, I spend most of my time on the System-8, followed by the FA-06, using Ableton as the brains/configuration. I have Komplete Ultimate (9 I think), but it doesn't get a ton of use outside of battery, because of my current outboard workflow (and I have difficulty tuning something like Massive thanks to reliance on mouse), so I don't know how well I'd work with Omnisphere for the same purpose.

But that would be "the" killer feature for a new MPC to me - integration of Omnisphere into a standalone just sounds AWESOME.

This is incorrect...

Omnisphere can do anything any of the hardware profiles can do.

If anything its the opposite...

The hardware only has access to certain parameters within Omnisphere!

Akai already have the software. so all they need to do is, design and build the case, add the motherboard, ram, cpu, power supply and use embedded linux or embedded windows. It's basically an x86 system inside a MPC case.

I'm building one with Modded Server Case and MPC Renaissance. Using Core i7, 16 Gigs Ram, 750 Watt PS, Motherboard with NVMe PCIe. I have a partner who going to mod the case and attach The Ren so it's one unit. It's going to run Windows 10 and disable every possible service that's not needed. I'll be able to add any internal or external sound cards.

I may throw Omnipshere inside as well. The weakest link right now is MPC Software.

I see. Thanks. I read the explanation here too. https://support.spectrasonics.net/manual/Omnisphere2/25/en/topic/hardware-synth-integration

It basically turns your hardware synth into a customized midi controller for Omnisphere patches that sound like the synth hardware profile you are using, but you don’t have to own the synth to unlock anything. It’s already there. It’s just a convenience feature for those that want the familiarity of their hardware controlling the software.

Their list is probably synths they’ve sampled into wavetables and modeled some multimode filters on. I’m sure they can get close on some of those, but I wouldn’t be selling off the hardware expecting Omnisphere to be a replica of the synth.

Dang you're building this and throwing Omni in it? When will you be finished?
