Can the MPC Live record audio while a sequence is running?

Hi. I'm considering buying an MPC Live. I'm attracted to it because it could be the centerpiece of a dawless setup while also being flexible enough to work with a daw if I so choose.
I'm wondering if it's possible to record a sequence with a midi keyboard and then run that sequence to synth via midi out while recording the output of the synth into an audio track. This might be a dumb question but I haven't found a clear answer after some googling. Thanks.

Ha, dumb question, I was perplexed.

Never thought to do that, but as long the audio of the synth is being picked up by the Live's audio inputs, then yes it can be done. You can play a sequence and sample at the sametime.

yep i do this all the time to make new loops, theres not much you have to stop the sequencer for now which is great, one of the best achivements of current mpc, just needs sample latch/hold before i can call it a real sampler
