Is it possible to create a 4 bar loop and have a particular sample play once every other time the loop plays? Essentially making the 4bar loop appear to be an 8 bar loop. Or play every 4th time giving you the appearance of a 16 bar loop. :hmmm

Yes you can. Its called programming!

Good question, as far as I've heard - This is only possible with the new GOLD MPC X.

I've heard rumors of going into record mode, setting an 8 bar sequence and then tap the pad of the sample you want to play once every 4 bars.

But I think doing something this difficult may crash the MPC, so I'd play it safe and post about it on the internet instead of doing the obvious thing.

I only ask because this is possible with my OP-Z using step components and also with my Deluge. I'm glade to see you all have your sense of humor. Here's a joke **** you!

I see Two different options. Like you said before...Turn it into a 8 Bar Loop and have the sample play every other 4 Bars. The Other way is to Create Two Separate 4 Bar Sequences. Kinda Overkill in my eyes

No, MPC doesn't have conditional midi notes like Elektron does.
I always do stuff like this, just copying the desired amount of bars and doing the change on the new part.
My MPC workflow is largely like that: create 2 bars or so, duplicate, make some changes, duplicate, and so on…works well for me.

yeah this is what I've been doing since the 90s. I don't have a problem with it, as it was all I ever knew up until 4 months ago. Just with all of the up dates Akai is coming out with, it kinda hard to keep track of it all. But I could have sworn I saw this as an update on someone's YouTube vid.

yep a digitakt does this or any elektron sequecer, about time for akai to catch up, closest we can get is round robin mode where diferent sample(pad layer) is played each time the pad is pressed
