Hi there,

I have tried to use the MPC as a generic controller in Ableton but it seems it doesnt send any midi when in controller mode as I was unable to access anything but control messages (DAW control) and to interact with the MPC plugin or plugin in a rack ... I had a midi monitor running to see and there arent any messages either - if I connect any of my keys to it, it works immediately.

I contacted AKAI support about it and the person I spoke to seems confused by the fact that this didnt work and wanted to do some testing - so I do wonder if this used to work in the past - pre 2.4 as thats where I started with or if it could be that AKAI assumed this to work as else I would have expected him to say: sorry thats not how the MPC works in controller mode ...

cheers

Can you connect thru USB MIDI? Set the Active Track to Midi Control, in Standalone Mode, and pick a channel.

standalone works - I am talking about controller mode here ... one of the ideas I got is to use the internal ssd to also use for samples/packs in Ableton - obviously in the absence of midi working I cant do that today but it seems it should work ...

damn - I had a look at the manual again ... which said:

Off topic:
To enter MIDI Control Mode, press Menu, and then tap MIDI Control.
- which obviously wasnt available - but changing a track to midi track it becomes available ... I then pressed Menu, MIDI control, next I tried the pads and it worked but off key

to get it to work in Ableton now and to start from the same C2 as in Ableton simply add the pitch shifter midi effect to it (I had to use +36 to make it work on the first pad ....

kinda feel stupid now ... but anyway it works but always needing to swap to the midi channel may not be as comfortable but at least I got my solution now ...
