I have all the devices hooked up to a mixer, audio is routed to the mpc Live or mpc software via touch/studio. I just use the direct record option in the mpc and all the sources are locked to the grid as played. Ableton link is great in that regard.

The other way is to use the wav extract option on each device and and insert the wavs in the mpc software.

When I use the mpc Live and reason together , I just ableton link them together . When I finished using a reason sound module. I open the live project on the software, load a instance of ReWire VST (32/64-bit) (http://energy-xt.com/rewire-vst.html) and capture the reason audio into the mpc software.

Alternatively I can keep the project on the Live and direct record it directly on the Live.

I've never heard of http://energy-xt.com/energyxt.html thank you for sharing. :-D I'm checking it now.

Yeah there’s a 2 channel demo on there if I remember correctly.

Energy-xt has been around a long time. I remember trying it out around 2005 or 2006. Still have that old version installer archived on a backup. Some guys on KVR using it back then and it had cool features way back when.

When I was redoing my set up, I knew I wanted a beat machine & keyboard, linked to software/DAW. I wanted 4x4 pads, so that took Ableton & Push out. The MPC was better featured than Maschine for my needs despite me having many Native Instrument VIs. I was shocked that the Advance boards nor VIP were integrated with the MPC.

I ended up with the Live and Komplete Kontrol S which turned out well, giving me the best of both worlds. The KK is integrated well; I'd say 70% of its features work alongside the MPC, including transport controls, control over my VIs, etc. Even though I work in the software, I'm almost never looking at the CPU.

Why in the world would Akai not tie the MPC & Andvance together like the Maschine & KK is beyond me. I wonder if the Advance is integrated even as well as the KK.

They must have 20 different development team and each team have no idea that the other exist.

I totally understand marketing, I went to business school, marketing, promotion etc were taught to me.
I got the clear message you're telling us. "Sell in increments", great.

Here's the problem with that and this product the MPC Live/X or a new MPC. If we are talking about a new MPC then another, then another then another X3 (in increments features), we are talking about price and competition (DAWS, Computers etc).

For ME, I wouldn't waste time when I recognize a pattern and see what they are doing to GET MY MONEY! I saw that with Protools, and Apple. Guess what I did? I got rid of both, because they were doing exactly what you have said, selling us these items in INCREMENTS! I use a powerful PC where I stopped that increments crap! I stop using Protools also, not only in increments where they Bull****ing around but their product will killing my setup. and I am talking about PTLe. I hated that crap, to long of a story to talk about. I got rid of it. Once I did my life in production has been a breeze! Once upon a time I was really excited about the MPC, not so much now, I am really excited on PCs and DAW's. My choice is Reason 10 and Studio One. I will never buy a Mac computer to produce music, no need to. I was one of the first early people telling clients you don't need freakin Protools to make music especially in a home studio. Avid/Digidesign had people in a dam trance thinking everything need to be in a protools session, which I broke the mold long ago with Reason.

Now I just received Studio One 4.5    OMG! Not only am I excited about the new 70 features but the dam program GUI is BEAUTIFUL! They have a handle on the CPU now, Gain on each channel and the list goes on. Now I can officially mix in it like I do Reason, and the editing is off the chain. I can say it's definitely better than Protools. Plus they have improved the zoom in on the wave form to look smooth like Audacity with the lil balls where you can edit precisely. I am ecstatic about that cause I can do some serious sound design in S1V4.5. It's really, really off the chain now!

So while companies are doing INCREMENT SALES people like me are moving on, the MPC's are groove boxes, and we need to understand that, it will never become a full fledged DAW. Especially if we are talking standalone. For me I don't need a new one, and my taste for it is gone! I am slobbering all over DAW software lol   It's getting more powerful by the months and I love doing my thing in them. Don't get me wrong I love my Live but... I love my DAW's even more. Why? Because they handle the bulk of my work and talent.

Now talking about Akai, I won't sit around waiting for them to dilly dally around still with glitches and what not to try and sell me a box in increments! Trust me as I made this thread they aren't going to make to many standalones. Also in Marketing you are taught to watch the market and sales of a product and if the weather ain't cool you don't waste money and resources on a product you have been monitoring. If Akai makes one more machine it will probably be it. This is the era of the DAW's and computers. Yes I understand the standalone culture, I am part of it, but as I said reality has set in with me. Just like moving from analog to digital. There were a lot of us stubborn, now look at me  You can't get me to buy analog machine. But I still love the sound of analog but the truth is, SOME SOFTWARE SYNTHS SOUND JUST AS GREAT AS ANALOG, that's not an argument anymore. Just like "You can't mix in Headphones wars" that is a thing in the past, I do it and I don't have to treat my room. See all the variables of past arguments have proved "CHANGE IS A COMIN" LOL  There will be a time where there are no more standalones. I'm just preparing you guys for it.

As a love for the MPC, and I will always love the experience it has given me, but I must move on with the waves of the ocean, and I won't get another MPC. This is not a complaint! And Akai needs to handle their business to keep the few customers they have with the Standalone/Computer product MPC they have. Get the glitches out!

Peace

They knew Android would get to a point where they wouldn’t be able to upgrade anymore as software is always ahead of hardware. Same **** applies to the MPC, why would I sell you a fully spec MPC now when I can piece meal it. If I seek you an mpc with 16gb ram and 500gb ssd, next few years consumers will expect double that. If I give you increments of it not only am I prolonging the lifespan of the hardware, also the stabilizing the need of the consumer when it comes to power and feature. Which will also help our engineer with time for the next new innovation. This is what we’ve been doing and it works well. We’re working on product which we’re projecting will hit the market in about 10 years. Android came out with their flex screen phones, you don’t think apple already had a prototype and their just looking to see how people feel about it before they capitalize on it. That’s smart marketing, sales and engineering.

Are you doing that in Standalone or the 2.5 software?

Being clear and consist is blessing. It's easy to be long winded and I do enjoy a in-depth conversation. But they need to slice it up sandwich style. (Easier to chew and digest.) It's like YouTube tutorial videos, 20 minutes long with 10 seconds of real information. I'm like, get to the point already!

What up NOC!
Im in Standalone only. 2.4... I don't like 2.5 Didn't see any benefits. 2.4 is the most stable for how I use it.

Incremental improvements for my street car, okay. Incremental improvements for my race car, that I drive 150 MPH, balls to the wall, for 500 miles every race, NOT OKAY! I need the best. Akai Pro need to split the brand. Akai Pro (For the TOOLS) and Akai Consumer (For the Toys).

When executed properly it works. Let’s take apple again as an example. Every year is a major apple event where some new hardware is released. In the meantime the OS is updated regularly. So this way they get you looking and tuning in for that event every year. What’s the difference between an iPhone 7, 8 ,9 or X. Not much but every year people buy into it. When you dropped them they got thousands more so they ain’t worried about you but somebody else got you tho.

You just brought up studio one 4.5 which got you really excited, They’ve been feeding you incremental updates for a while now. I know because I used to have studio one. It’s all the same game, they could have given you what’s in 4.5 in 3.0 but since you’re already a loyal customer you don’t see it that way.

As someone who went to to business school you should clearly see that. You left apple and Protools but Presonus scooped you up. Like I said it’s the same game but different tactics. We’re all victims of this.

Did I do good sir Charles?

Yes l said l deal with increments with Software of course because for one its cheap and sometimes the updates are free. I don't use iPhone so l don't worry. I have a regular phone and only upgrade unless it breaks or get lost. I keep phones a long time. Not get one every time a new one comes out. There's a lot of people like me.

Now lets talk about the MPCs. Let me ask you, are you going to get a over a $1,000 MPC every time they release one?

Certain things fall in good increments and some will fall under bad increments. Everything can't go that route. Now you should know that.

Take what happened to Avid they did the increments thang with Le and MBox, it came to a fail! Then they had to let a little over a thousand employees go! They lost their home base. Incrementation doesn't work on everything.

People buy into it, because they are being psychologically manipulate. However, the difference is.. iPhones are consumer devices, not professional/industrial devices. When I buy a professional piece of equipment, I expect quality builds, no bugs, and professional support.

Example: SSL. They take care of their clients. They send people to setup the gear and walk you through it.
If any goes wrong, they handle it. If you have gear that is out of warranty, they do their best to fix it, send someone, or direct you to the best place. That's because they sell gear, that should last 15+ years. They don't release half done, beta gear.

As far as Software, bug fixes are fine. However, I don't buy the latest upgrade, because there isn't very much to improve. That's because the core idea of recording has not changed. Yeah, there are lots of new tricks, but the core values of recording have not changed.

As I stated above, most marketing is psychologically manipulative. It's also the down fall to most companies. Build Quality Products. Offer Quality Service, at price that is good for the buyer and a profit for the manufacturer. Market and Promote the product in a sincere way and you'll stay in business a long time.

P.S. Thanks for the spacing.  Mr. Hansjbs
