Using the 4k as a dj set

Small question not a complaint, I was wondering how many fellow 4k users use the gear using djing techiques or as part of a dj set?




Also akai it going to release a 1k thru 2k sucuessor that is a lightweight mpc to be go between the two. That all you will see it maybe at NAAMN 2005. It isn`t a 4k replacement and the 4k will have continued support thru the next yr and beyond.

Nice topic.I'm using the 4k with my dj sets.In fact i plug a Stanton turntable and Numark's CDX in a Stanton SK2F Ltd. mixer's channels and i plug the MP in the left line output.I'm gonna but a new 3-channel mixer with a Kaoss pad on it so i can have all channels in hand plus the advantage of Kaoss FX.
Nice to hear that MPC4K OS will be on-going.One question: When NAMM2005 will take place? Peace.

I guess you don`t then Since most users listen and produce dance music which very major dance genre from hip hop to trance were created by djs. Get it djs not musicians aka dj music aka dance music.


So how many djs on this particular site use their dj techniques in their productions. I know some users never dj in their life. They went straight to the 4k from a guitar or nothing.

I guess I have to sell this 4k baby before it losts its value due to the new MPC with new features.

Don`t get it twisted dude. My main post is to about djing techniques in your mpc production. Beatmatching your tunes and creating remixes.
Using your mpc in your djing set. Combining loops, grooves, and songs fading and mixing. Customize drum loops. Using two mpcs together, triggering new sounds via midi. Live sets with sound modules and everything you have in your studio on stage. But mainly using your djing mixing, stuttering, and beatmatching techniques in your beats.






The other was a little info mainly for the mpc 1k crowd the new l will call "mini mpc" which is a cross between the 1k and 2k. Main selling point is to make a lighter, portable mpc for entry level users it will have nothing on the 4k but a cheaper price. If you got money to burn for a 1k deluxe to fit in your backpack go ahead it`s nothing to cry about. Read the post I made about the 4k is still having new features added for the next 4 to 5 yrs at least. Like I say it may come out at the NAMN 2005 show be on the look out. If it is cheap enough I may have a road gear model myself to use on the way back and forth to work ha, ha.

For djing techniques

What i do is setup everyone of my pads thats BAnks A-F all 16 pads full...
With one song on each pad a complete song....
And I Beat match every song... So that way I can press pad 1 and then press pad 2 and mix into a new song...

I then use the tunrtables to scratch new sounds into the beats..
Use drops etc...

U have to have all the samples setup in one shot... and all of them must cut eachother off... in poly set to 1 and cutoff set to one for all...in program..


That way you can scratch on your turntable while one beat is playing the keep the drop and hit pad 2 into another song seamless ly....


I usually only pick 4 min songs and sample them in mono...
That way I got about 16 songs on 16 pads on 6 banks
96 songs for one set is way more than enough.....
thats 368 min set ouch


Well tell me what u think.. Cause I have a live drummer who does the drops with me like Ill scratch use a blank pad to cutoff all songs them jam out make him do a drum roll and come back into the next songs.. etc.

I tie in tightly with our bands DJ and bass player where me and the Dj swap beats and cuts duties ....Ill have a drum loop going while DJ cuts, then he'll drop a beat. while I cut a sample(through a battle mixer) while the bass chugs aolng with a funky fat bassline.
You could just sample all the beats, but wheres the fun in that
