If you can't pay, don't play. As a windows user, it's hit 90% and miss 10%. But as a MAC OS user it's research, research, research, research, research.

Old computer doesn't support new MAC OS.
Old computer supports new MAC OS but not your interface.
Old computer, interface. support new MAC OS but your software doesn't
New MAC OS and nothing supports it.
New Computer with new MAC OS but they changed the ports, so none of your gear works.

Might be the USB 3.0 cord that came with it. My X came with a faulty USB 3.0 cord that only works when I connect it through a USB hub..with latency.

Mine came without original USB lead.So ive tried 3 older ones.Latency huh?Damn..... Might try some new usb leads. And update the OS lol.Man these MBP's have done well.OG OS's,hard drives and been abused in parties and odd environments in dark crazy places in strange countries, personally repaired, died, come back to life and produced odd music, surfed dark corners of the web.........ect for 10 or so years and are still both basically doing there job.lol.I went on a mega search binge last night looking at new contenders for the job last night (ebay ect) and now decided to just maintain these old workhorses!!! Got a Ipad pro here too that ive not even touched yet so....

In my case it was the USB cord that came with it. Just replaced it today and its humming now. Its working with the software like a charm.

Actually it’s kind of common with The X. They packaged their equipment with the cheapest USB3.0 cable that they can find . It doesn’t really affect the smaller Live, but it does the X. I really wouldn’t have thought it was the cable. The only way I knew it was the cable is because the internal SSD drive volume wouldn’t appear on my desktop until I connected it through a USB 2.0 hub. Then I knew it was the cheap cable they packaged The X with.

What MAC OS are you running?

https://www.akaipro.com/kb/macos-mojave-and-ios12-support-for-akai-pro-products/

Also keep in mind that macOS Catalina is coming out in the fall. So the new Akai MPC Software should get updated, however you may have to stay put, if your MBP's don't support Catalina.

These computer will support macOS 10.15 (Catalina)

MacBook 2015 and later
MacBook Air 2012 and later
MacBook Pro 2012 and later
Mac mini 2012 and later
iMac 2012 and later
iMac Pro 2017 and later
Mac Pro 2013 and later

CharlesRandolph wrote:Did you at least check to see, if the USB cable was the issue?

Well if you read the thread :Sigh: you can see  that i tried all 3 cables i had here. And i sold it really because i was not in lurve with the general sound. Not thats there's anything wrong with it,But i like the older models b etter. And they feel more sturdy.Metal casing and all.Not so many problems with the leads :)

Plus ive been scoring some good deals on retro hardware so free up some cash. All good.
