I asked because you've stated you've tried 3 older ones and might try a new USB cable. I also asked what MAC OS you were running, but you never replied. Nevertheless, its good that found something that works. How do you plan to use the 2000, 2000XL, 1000, ASR-X and the MPC SOFTWARE together?

From earlier in the tread...

Well i will use them individually and push them knock up some pieces and join em up at some point and jam out and record-i dont usually midi sync,im an old school type (old fashioned lol) and play them and mix like decks start stopping them and muting ect.And record through the motu. The Asr fell through as the guy felt a sudden attraction for it when it was time for me to pick it up......Ive taken on another ASR project this eve and in the morning a Roland MC909 project and got the 2000 and SP404 and a couple of keys. Its just one big mix.Lots of happy accidents....

Machines come and go through my place all the time.I buy and try to fix up,record and often sell.

Your right but i did try a brand new one.And i rang Akai and they said its probably my OS.

Thanks for re-posting it. Yeah 10.6 and 10.9 leaves you high and dry. So what MPC software version actually runs on your system?

I only started midi in the late 90's  I like the machines to find there own sync.Shift off the grid a bit.Like analog mixing.

Analog mixing? Like tracking two 24 tape decks or are you referring to mixing Vinyl records? Do you have a link to finished song, using that technique?

Well if you play two digital units and trigger them in real time thats analog.lolRather than itb where everything is tied to the exact same clock. No air there.BTW i started off doing theatre/soundtrack work for plays ect cutting up tape and working tape multitracks.Im not an analog phile of anything but i grew up through punk and the records and tapes dubbing times.Thats me.I lie things when they go out of tune/sync or some distortion is added. But as long as i have some control over it.TBH id be just as happy produ ctive in some ways i guess just with a mouse and chpping stuff up on an old copy of Cubase VST and soundforge lol
