I just bought an MPC Live to use as a backing track live. Is there a way to make it to where I push a pad and the pad loop plays and then I push the pad and it stops? Thanks.

every previous mpc and almost every other sampler can do this, i consider it the number one omission from the mpc which is why i always take another sampler to play live, sp303 or digitakt do it easy, akai really need to fix this, pad +shift would be nice!!! sample latch/hold is the name of the function. 2.6 please akai. i will not speak highly of the mpc brand until this basic sampler function from the 80s is implemented! :vomit: :vomit: :vomit:

Well you can record the sample(s) on the sequence timeline, each sample a track, and push on and off with instant track mute

I agree, a very basic feature that should have been there since the MPC1000. I was told the feature was there which is why I bought a Live. Though available in Clip mode but you don't get total control as you would in Drum mode.

The toss it in the sequencer idea is an alternative but again, you don't really have total control except muting it in and out.

The last MPC able to loop from the pads was the 2kXL. Its been MIA since. :hmmm:

I agree this is what clip program was made for. I do this on the 4000 without the sequencer running. However, the mpc live/x clip mode is quicker and easier to setup.

instant track mute isnt a proper workaround as it creates a slew of other problems, def cant use in a live performance, neither is clip mode, all options need to be accesable from the main sequencer mode as thats how an mpc is used in a live situation unless your being super lazy and just launching clips abelton style, needs fixing asap

The purpose of clip mode, is to launch loops and trigger phrases right? It seems like this is why, they reworked the MPC OS for the Akai Force.

to explain i finder drum or hit the pads to construnct my beats live, on the 2500/1000 or other sampler i can also loop any pad thats in a note on state to build parts of the song, on a live/x it cant be done from a mode where you can drum, its backwards, i want to launch loops not from clip mode and it could be done before so should be doable in these models, i will keep ranting till its fixed

Is it broken or did they decide to leave it out?

either way until this is fixed i gotta bring a 2nd sampler to play a show or lug a 2500 (a few other reasons too, mpc live doesnt pass audio when loading etc) if its deliberately left out i will be moving onto other samplers for my music as this generation of mpcs has been a major fail for me, with all the tech developments they cant manage basic legacy functions which peoples music styles and live performances have been built on for the last 20 years. much happier with the digitakt than the mpc live, it feels more like a modern forward thining sampler than a cheap plastic toy that cant even latch/hold a sample from a note on state like an sp303 :) i will contine to call akai out on the forums, social medias and all fronts until it is fixed or i recive a personal apology and explaination on why this cant be done with current software/hardware.
