The list of stability and reliability enhancements is the most interesting thing about this update (to me). IMO this is the most promising update yet, because it shows attention to "under the hood" issues which is usually a positive sign that they are planning for a major release. If you want to develop big new stuff, you gotta fix the foundation first. Apple does the same thing with Logic - release a massive list of under-the-hood fixes, then release a future update with a major change to the software. The new icons is a smart play because it indicates a major UI redesign is coming 3.0 probably, and it allows them to give a hint of it, without breaking existing functionality or introducing a new bug - because it's just an icon. I've never said this about Akai, but great move.

Sweet, except that I wish the Force vids were left in the Force secion.

Thanks!

The last few updates make stand alone much more useful for me. Having relied exclusively on the software & VIs, I have some studying to do.

I wish more under the hood items were brought to the light. They make a big announcement about the shiny stuff, but you are 100% right about the importance of under the hood stuff, and what it feeds. Often a large under the hood patch also means the following patches will be QUICKER as they are less about bug fixes.

I, too, feel that they're doing good moves now!

Dan being quoted on GS:
"disk streaming is going to be a 3.0 thing, because in 2.x there's no concept of a 1 to 1 track model, so it's a pile of confusion. for instance, seq 1 can be drums on track 3, then on seq 2 it could be on track 10, or completely different programs entirely.

3.0 will be a 1 to 1 model (like force is now). track 1, when you add a drum kit or plugin will then be on track 1 in all sequences. this is probably our #1 request, actually.
"

So they'll introduce a feature where tracks will be the same in all sequences, which is not the old MPC way of working. That might be good, because it happens often to me that I add some new track (e.g., some perc stuff) as I'm in sequence 9 or so, and then I'll copy that or parts of it to earlier seqs.

With the Disk Streaming, I wonder how it will effect older projects? Not to mention, opening projects created on older MPC's. The MPC 4000 is a nightmare, it's easier to recreate the track.
