MPC Live pad sensitivity

so ive been using ableton push 2 since it came out and ive been happy with it.

finally picked up and mpc live, and it feels like i have to smack the pad as hard as possible to get any response....

is it a bad unit? or bad settings? help!

Try adjusting the sensitivity settings. I have a Studio Black so Im assuming its the same pads on the Live.. I have the sensitivity on mine almost all the way up. The top of my desk is thick tempered glass but it still worries me how hard I have to hit the MPC at its default settings just to even hit like a velocity of 50 heh. I think I have the sensitivity set at 12 which is like 3/4 of the way up, and its ALOT better. I can actually hit velocities of 100 without having to lift up my hands and smash them down now, I can do it as easy as typing on the keyboard. Ive had this thing for 2 months now and have been banging on it every single day, Im hoping any day now they just give in and start working more like my BeatStep Pro's do (those are about the only good thing it has haha).

Yeah I also had same feeling at the beginning.
Just go on preferences and lower the pad sensitivity.

really thinking about returning it and getting a maschine or something. really excited for stand alone features, but this sensitivity is atrocious.

Smells like a bad unit to me don’t give up..Just return it and will short you with another one..Mine is super sensitive with default settings!

Give it a week or two and make sure youre playing it every day. Mines right here in front of my Mac so every night when I was on here playing games or whatever, Id keep pressing on it while Im sitting here doing whatever. Make sure Im going over each pad, and just do it a little every time Im at the computer. When I first got it, I had to turn the thing all the way up, now its gotten better, but Ive also been using it for 2+ months straight now every day.

my first Live unit I had for nearly a year b4 I had to ship back for warranty issue. Got a brand new unit, and noticed i had to 'break in' the pads as they were not as sensitive as my last unit. After a week of heavy playing the pads were more responsive. Of course you can just set the sensitivity parameters as already mentioned. Mine have had been at default settings

I just noticed yesterday somehow my settings were reset in the MPC Software so my Studio has been back to the default 8/8 settings for I dont know how long (maybe the 2.6 upgrade??). The thing works great now hah. I thought it was still set to the weakest force setting and 12 on the sensitivity but nope. I guess its safe to say after 2 months my pads are finally broken in hah.
