Anyone has news about Propellerhead hardware and this universal coding?

They're partnering with Mind Music Labs, who has ELK MUSIC OS. MML has been partnering with many companies. It feels like they're building a standalone MUSIC OS, that doesn't rely on MAC or WINDOWS. This is what music needs, our own OS without the extra.

That's interesting.
It would open up many possibilities.
First the chance to use Reason extensions without having to use Reason and computer.
I am much more interested in that then in Vst or Au integration in hardware.
I don't like any of my Vst, hardware fx box sound much better then them.

This is the article, doing it with ELK, and the pic of the proto-type below. This is kinda dope, something I would be into being I have Reason and I'm very happy with Props and how they handle things!

Reason Rack Extensions In Hardware?
Propellerhead teams up with MIND Music Labs and their ELK system to make it happen 10/01/19

Propellerhead Software has announced a partnership with MIND Music Labs, enabling manufacturers to run Rack Extension plugins on instruments and music hardware products with ultra-low latency. They say that this provides hardware manufacturers with an incredibly scalable, powerful and cost-effective way to incorporate Propellerhead’s future-proof Rack Extension platform into hardware synthesizers and effects using widely available ARM & X86 processors

Ernst Nathorst-Böös, CEO, Propellerhead, told us, “Propellerhead is thrilled to partner with Mind Music Labs to help manufacturers build groundbreaking hardware products in the most cost-effective and scalable way. We believe that together, we can bridge the gap between music creation software and hardware, and help manufacturers bring the next generation of incredible synths and effects to market.”

Since its release in 2012, Propellerhead’s Rack Extension platform has emerged as a powerful audio plug-in format, with over 180 developers and more than 530 instruments and effects now available. Rack Extensions integrate seamlessly into the Reason rack, combining excellent sound, smooth workflow, and rock-solid stability with intuitive routing, automation, editing capability, and flexibility.

The Rack Extension format also gives developers unique benefits over other plug-in formats. Rack Extensions are compatible with desktop, mobile, and web platforms, and developers can easily reach customers through the Propellerhead Shop, which provides a direct distribution path to Reason’s large global network of users.

Mind’s ELK is a Music Operating System, which delivers the ultra-low latency performance of dedicated DSP chips on more powerful and cost effective ARMs and X86 processors. Now, hardware manufacturers can develop exciting new products by taking advantage of the huge library of Rack Extensions already available, ranging from synthesizers and sampled instruments to creative effects and boutique studio processors. ELK’s flexibility also allows users to upgrade their instruments and audio processors with new plugins, connect their devices to external controllers and much more.

Michele Benincaso, Founder, MIND Music Labs, had this to say, “While a key value proposition of the ELK OS is support for all popular plugin formats, we are particularly excited about our close partnership with Propellerhead. The 'middleware' nature of their Rack Extension format means hundreds of titles from dozens of developers become instantly available to ELK customers.”

It's still a computer, however it's running on ELK Music OS, which is built just for music.

Propellerhead Partners with MIND Music Labs For Rack Extension Hardware Integration

They are partnering with lots of companies. I've been checking them out for some time. This is from them.

ELK is the first ultra-low latency Music Operating System in the world. It’s developed specifically for audio applications, eliminating latency, allowing you to leverage the power of software technology in real time via strings, keys, buttons and knobs instead of a mouse.

    Ultra-low latency (below 1ms round-trip)
Linux-based, using single Intel & ARM CPUs
Official Support for VST plugins (also written in JUCE) & Rack Extension
Natively connected (USB, WiFi, BT, 4G)
    Full MIDI support

LOL    I been watching too, why you think I be talking about Reason like a Big Dog LOL I kept my mouth quiet, Frisbi let the cat out the bag LOL Why you think I said "I'M NOT EXCITED ABOUT AKAI AND THE MPC LIKE I USE TO BE", now you see. I have gotten my dough on standby LOL hahahahaaa CTFU.
Lowest latency in the world is a mad jump to being confident, and that's dope. Man Props is about to take it to the next level. I get that, I won't need any other hardware period. Eric Persing did this when he made a prototype years ago with Omnisphere. I wanted that joint, and he was talking about this, but he didn't follow through, he went another direction. I met him in person and asked about it. He gave that oooohhh weeee face LOL Now, He might hope on it, and it will be hella dope! Omnisphere is already the baddest synth on the planet right now and to do that, would be crazy and I know how Eric would do it, he would have his team make the box and etc, I don't think he would partner with anyone, but we shall see.

This is what Akai was suppose to do and I thought they were doing it. smh, That's why I been quiet not saying ish, and taking care of my business.

Picture this, a DBeat, fully blown, and that Reason Hardware joint together OMG  Dam. If the DBeat would of came out now, with all the trimmings we really want, it would be over for Akai. Just saying.

For me is the opposite, my set is centred on Mpc Live and I am happy with it.
It just needs other hardware next to him.
The idea of a daw replacer is a fraud, but as a central workstation is a winner.
I think I will never go back to computer for composing, I will definitely go on with hardware.
Then you could say, man Mpc is a tablet with a controller so it doesn't change anything.
Well that's true, Mpc is a DEDICATED computer for audio and that's the difference. Its still digital and it doesn't make anything different from a computer but its focused on that and it sounds good as my computer never did.
I think the future will be that, dedicated devices which just do one thing but because of that they will be optimized for that so they will do it the best possible.
This is why I am excited by Propellerhead going hardware.
And Reason 10 is the king of music production possibilities, nothing on computers sound good and powerful as Reason 10.

As far as audio quality this comes down to the sample set and audio interface. As a stated before and still believe it. Most people desktop experience sucks, because of the computer they use. I work fast and my computer has to keep up and the programs I use can't freeze, hiccup, or crash.

Yes sir!

Yes your setup is different from mines, my main thing is powerful computer then powerful DAW. Blow my computer out!
I love being ITB. I use the live for its sequencer and modern capabilities.
