Process Question

Hi There

Pulled out my dusty Mpc live today. Realise I know nothing about it....

So I sampled a TR-505 I modified for pitch control. I have a load of samples I now need to edit.

So I have 10 long samples that all have a low hum in the background... I thought oh I'll just process them with some low cut.... But no , it seems I can't find how to apply some EQ to these samples. Akai only seem to think I want to reverse of bit crush but not EQ !

Please tell me Im wrong....

Sample processing is still very basic, one of my main feature requests is to have access to internal plugins within SAMPLE EDIT so we can perform more advanced processing there. The workaround is to assign the sample to a pad, add insert FX and flatten pad.

Thanks for the swift reply . Wow , I really hoped that you could eq a sample on the machine. I mean EQ is by no means advanced processing.

Thats quite stunning. A sampler that you cannot apply EQ and save. That is surely page one of designing a sampler. I dont know how the machine can really function without being able to do that. I have to extract the file from the MPC to a sample editor EQ it and save then drag it back into the MPC ! Then edit the file into slices....

Yea Basically you have to kinda find the Frequency of the "Hum" and EQ it out with a Narrow "Q" setting. Then resample or process the sample with a new name.
Usually that hum comes from the Turntable or something like that on input. I usually cheat and Throw the Waves X-Hum or X-Noise on the sample and process that Hum right outta there. Then import the New Processed Sample back into the MPC.

Im Old School....Im still messin with an Old version of Wavelab. Works well for me

Sooo... not sure you understood the previous answer. YES YOU CAN EQ THE SAMPLE IN THE MACHINE. Select your sample and assign it to a pad. Then head over to the pad mixer window and click on the fx section of that pad.Select an EQ (there's a few to chose from AKAI or otherwise) and apply your EQ. You can even stack different EQ's together using the 4 available fx spaces per pad. Need more processing? Simply head over the sample window, hit record and then hit the pad in question; now you have re-recorded the original sample with the added EQ (or whatever fx you just used). Once again, assign this new sample to another pad and, again, you have another 4 fx options to add to it. Once you are done, you can simple save the processed sample to a memory card and export it wherever you want to or use it for a track within the MPC.

Yep. It doesn't sound like an old Emulator IV but I make Reeses this way all the time hehe. Just keep stacking them saw's and pushing those filters, resample, PROFIT!!
