Low end theory

Can someone help me with turnin a regular sample into a bass sound? when ever i take a horn or somethin then i got into params and turn the filter all the way down and mess around with the other params it gives a decent bass but still has the sound of the trumpet muffled.

you will always hear a little of the original intruments, you wont get a clean bass... i usually layer the same sample with diff param settings and once i dump the track into cubase i mess with it more to make it more bass oriented...

eq will only do so much. You can try running it through some bass enhancing plus as well. Waves Maxx Bass is good. The trick is to have enough other sounds in your track to cover up the muffled horn sound, so only the bass cuts through.

I use Virtos Noise Wizard plugins (filter box) in Sound Forge to filter anything and everything down/up.

Usually if I turn the highs down and mids down on my dj mixer before I sample the sample, and turn the bass way up, when I filter it down there's very little of the original sample left in it, if at all....
