Oh no. This doesn't have the regurgitated Roland sounds. JV 1080? LOL 1080 sounds can't touch this at all. V-Piano technology and the Zin Core, this keyboard is ran on four computer chips. Man lma get the 61 keyboard ver.

None of the previous Roland keyboards sound like this or work likes this.

Man this is bringing back memories.. What was Eric's big bad sample collection he put out in the end of the 90s/early 2000s??? I cant remember if it was the X-Static Goldmine or Distorted Reality.. I still pull shit from both of those to this day haha.

I don't know man, marketing is a hell of a drug. The basic E-Piano is renamed as, Hyper Voltage Keys. This list of sounds looks familiar and 40 Pages of new sounds, IDK about that! :lol:

^^^^ :lol: It was said they have classic sounds but most is new sounds. I think Eric Persing had something to do with this new Fantom. It has the Orb on it like Omnisphere has. And Eric did bring back a lot of the hardware joints from Roland so l guess he washed their backs... When cats go live to do gigs and old songs those sounds are there.

Id rather get that than another MPC.

So ZEN-Core is in the Jupiter-X. Also V-Piano Technology: Is the same as The Roland V-Piano and Super Natural Piano Sound Engine. Since Roland dis-continued the V Piano. It looks like they incorporated the engine, into the Fantom 8 but a lower price point.

Keybed:

- V-Piano: 88 keys PHA III (Progressive Hammer Action III) Ivory feel Keyboard with Escapement.

- Fantom-8: 88 Keys (PHA-50 Wood and Plastic Hybrid Structure, with Escapement and Ebony/Ivory Feel, channel aftertouch)

The PHA 50 is an upgrade to the PHA III. There is the Roland LX700 Series which uses the PHA-50 but the key-sticks are longer. (Look at the below image.) Remove the Roland Fantom 8 sampler and use the MPC Live on top. That would be nice combination.

The demo IS nice, but, I am still weary of a possible sp404/sx hidden inside used as the sampling engine.

Fantoms have been relying on the 404sx sampling engine for decades. I aint with that.

I have been an Akai fan for old hardware for decades. Korg sampling engine for decades. Roland sampling engine just doesn’t do it for me. The ONLY thing Roland I would do right now is Integra sound module, A BEAST! I was looking at Integra for a turbo phatt replacement.

Its good enough for me. The whole setup is what wanted. 4 chips in it l ain't worried. 4 layered spunds make one sound patch which l can stack 16 joints. Its not going to sound like what people may think.

My buddy hates the sampler on the FA-06 he just picked up used. Very disappointing. Is the Fantom series sampler much different than the old FA-series?

For over 3 k you should be getting a better sampler than a 404... it’s marketed as a work station right?
Plus youre gambling on abandonware..,
I could see these on every late night shows band, not so much in the studio. A computer and midi controller covers these bases and then some.

Im not worried about sampling.
I play and produce, if l sample l can do that in MPC.
Worried about being abandoned? Not l. I had jonts that were abandoned and kept them for years after. This the only piece l'll have. The functions on it are dope. Again its setup the way l like it. I know what to get for me. Being to technical is not for me lm about the specs and having fun.

I’m sure you went over it and it ticks all your boxes Danoc, but there are others reading who might want to know the draw backs.
I’ve had a few pieces of gear get abandoned by Roland and just by upgrading my windows was suddenly with a piece of gear to use.
We all get your excited, but gassing this thing up like it’s the first flawless piece of gear is counter productive.

I would assume that the sampling is the same old engine maybe a better ui for it similar to the new 707. I only mention the pitfalls because Roland is masters at marketing and the last few products I bought were somewhat of a let down.
